The thread is about why triathletes are so in love with themselves. I am trying to give some insight as to why it might be perceived that way. It is because at the sub-elite/amateur level, the sport consumes your life in a way that running just does not. I live with a runner, and he will freely admit that my training is much harder than his. By no means am I bashing runners or running, I was a runner for 12 years, and loved every day of it. After getting into triathlons, it involved a new level of commitment to reach my potential. Training 10 hours a week with two hard workouts total will get you nowhere in this sport. You have to be obsessive about it or you will just never become very good. That is the biggest reason why people with marginal talent succeed. The level of daily mental fortitude required to get up for training is much higher than in running. This weeds out a lot of potential winners. If you truly think it is the same level, I will give you a typical weeks worth of workouts, and you can do everyone of them and report back, if you are still able to move at that point. As for racing, name the race, unless you are a good pro triathlete, you will not be beating me, that much I can guarantee. P.S. before you attempt riding "buy" me, make sure you read a elementary school grammar textbook first.
