No, because I know of no Olympian in 2008 who did win it. It doesn't matter because Ritzenhein didn't win it yet medaled at WXC and was the highest US finisher. Excellent run by Ryan Vail in sixth--only 18 seconds behind Meb and 8 behind Torres. Doesn't this have to be the most surprising finish on the men's side?
Very impressive by Vail. Looks like German and him are excellent training partners, congrats to both of them.
Big props to Tim Nelson who has Always been overshadowed in Madison by Teg and Solinsky. Also a great run by R. Vail! Looks like he's back living and training (well) in Oregon.

Fam doesn't suck, but I don't know why so many people voted for him over Meb in the letsrun poll. Nothing about Fam's past exploits suggests he'd win at 12k cross country.
Fam has rather solid 10k credentials from the not-so-distant past and has a decent reputation of strength. At least he stuck his nose in there, but he faded big time and probably just wasn't ready to go with that type of race plan.
