Where is Adam Goucher?I hope he is not done yet!HE could beat Ritz and everybody in cross C and in the marathon!
Any word on him?

Watch out for minotaurs, though...

WHOOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I talked to Adam Goucher before the PF Chang's half-marathon. He says he wants to do some track races in the spring and then race the Marathon Olympic trials next January.
Is he done?
I think you answered your own question

but in the world of letsrun if you're not ready to at least crack an AR or be a new kid on the block with seemingly unlimited potential (wait 5 years to see how unlimited that really is) you are done.
most if this is because we live vicariously through these guys and if we decided to hang 'em up at 14:01 or 14:42 or whatever and have always wondered since then what we could have done "only if" (only if nike spotted my talent, only if i had an alter g, only if salazar was my personal coach, only if i could have worked out with so and so, etc. etc.) then how can we painfully watch someone with more talent and more heart continue to go after it and believe in themselves when the future is much less than certain.
the issue here isn't goucher, it's a bunch of insecure, miserable dreamers and hangers on. if you decided to let it go, then LET IT GO. take yourselves out of the fantasy and simply observe, you might experience some joy and appreciation rather than jealousy and anguish.
This is spot on.
The message board could become a quality place overnight with mandatory registration of non-free email addresses. All the trolling bull @#$% would stop almost immediately.
It is a shame that the owners let it continue to be a venue for the childish morons who leave all the posts that we have to wade through to find the good information.

Amen!
After London 2012 the Gouchers plan a move to North SD to join Competitor. Culpeppers are already there.
I thought Culpepper had a running store in CO?
Carlos Lopes spent a couple years injured and came back as a marathoner and won the Olympics, World Cross, and set a World Record.
It could be done.
Wake me up when AG goes bat sh!t crazy, leaves Kara and moves to Colorado. Then I'll take him serious as a distance/marathon runner.
It took the Culps a long time to make enough to afford So Cal but they made it.
that was pretty clever

He is as done as a burned slice of toast. Too much grass running and not enough time on the crete.

Too many haters on this board. I say Goucher runs sub 2:12 and makes it on the Olympic team. He's got the talent and raw speed (13:10 5K).

It would be cool if he made it. I think what he is missing is durability.
The durability issues in training for the marathon are a serious question mark for Goucher and he may not be suited for the distance in any event, but I would never count the guy out. He's one of the toughest SOBs out there, and while everyone was blathering on about the USATF appeals committee's decision to let him run the trials in 2008, he proved that he belonged, despite less than ideal training, and led the "also-ran" pack behind the front three for much of the race.
It's entirely possible that if Rupp had quit looking over his shoulder for his "teammate" to catch up and had forced the pace instead, Torres, who was already faltering, would've sling-shotted back to the pack, and then anything would've been possible if Adam knew he had a shot at that point. I hope he does make the team in 2012.

Actually, things weren't as they appeared to be in SoCal(with Competitor) and, after a short stay out there, the Culpeppers are already back in CO.
Authentic newspaper source ?
