Odds that third place will go to either Russell or Akor? Or will they blow themselves out trying to keep up with Deena?

Who's the guy doing the lead announcing? He seems not to understand that a 2:00 lead with 10 to go guarantees absolutely nothing, as he keeps insisting that the chase pack is fighting for 2 spots. His voice is familiar.

Is it Akor or Akbar with Russell?

Deena may catch Magdalena, but I don't see her falling apart. She isn't some unknown who is trying to steal a spot. She is a solid runner who can run 2:30. Even if she run 2:32 today it may be enough.

Given the choice of the field versus any one or two marathoners, I'll always take the field.

Correcting myself...it was Kastor/Russell/Akor and they split 5:37 not 5:42 so gained 6 seconds that mile...Kastor obviously gaining more during mile 16.

It's AKOR. I erred.

OK, let's play "guess the mile Deena drops the leader like a wet fish".

I'm in for mile 20 and it's going to be ugly.

Russell now opening gap. I think third comes out of the women behind with Deena and Russell 1 and 2.

Yeah- I agree- I think Trautwig is being a little too dramatic- and I'm surprised that Eyestone isn't reeling him in at all.

Interesting Let' Run topic:

If Magdalena and Akor get in the top 3 the US will have 2 women who are non-US born on the team. Lots of talk when in was Khalid, Meb, and Abdi going for the spots but nothing here. Double standard??? I just hope we get the 3 best runners on the team.

I don't think so- she's only about 5 sec. up on Akor, who looks like she's only about 10-15 sec up on the next spot. Still too early to forecast a finish-

Mile 16 Split: Lewy Boulet picks it up slightly to 5:40, but Kastor hits 5:33.
