go webb...you are a man like others who do it....webb has a tiger heart ....he can do it if he wakes up healthy.

This is a thread Spivey should be a part of. He is only one of a handful of Americans who have posted a sub 3:50 mile. He called Webb's performance at the last World Championships dead on.
Most of the experts are pointing to a 3:48 time for Webb. A 3:46 would send shockwaves throughout international distance running. It could change the entire balance of international mile running.
In a country of 300,000,000 people there is bound to be at least 25 other Webbs waiting to be inspired.
Good for Webb to put himself out there and go for it.
iam sure webb can do it under 3:48, he is a kid who is now wearing steve prefontaine heart, not fearing the likes of lagat, suleiman simwoto, other good milers...name them!!good luck for webb!!
I bet his hair falls out if he breaks the AR.
If he breaks this record and runs 3:47 low or 3:46 high as i predicted, he will now in my opinion replace Mansoor Ali as my favorite for worlds, I hope he lowers his 800 time to the 1:44 range, then he truly will almost a world wide favorite.
I wish the best of luck and Look forward to selling all of his autograph's on ebay someday!
3:48.49
and his eyes out if he breaks the world record...who knows?
I PREDICT THAT HE WILL TIE IT. GO WEBB!
he's obviously in shape to do it. he's run faster at 1500m than scott or spivey or any other americans but lagat and maree. he's shown the kick, the tough victories, the fast times all this year and this is his best distance. his pr at the mile is not that far away, at 3:48.9, so he's not like a lukezic who's never come close to his converted 1500m at the mile. you never know what's going to happen with webb. but his results in record attempts before have been very good. he says he's going for it and he does it. for instance, first try to go under 4 indoors in hs and he did it (just barely, but that's all he was going for). when he went to pre to break ryun's record, he did it in still by 2 seconds. when he tried to break bk's 2 mile record, he did it just barely. when he tried to break scott's drake relays record this year, he crushed it by 4 seconds. I think that he's either going to get this by a few tenths of a second or he's really going to go after a great, great time and blow it away somewhere close to Steve Cram's old world record of 3:46.32. My prediction: he breaks 3:47.
webcast anywhere?!?!!? i think it goes off in 50 minutes
my bad i thought it was today, not tomorrow
Not too many U.S. milers have put themselves on the line like Alan Webb. I think he won his race before the gun.
is this going to be live anywhere?
lukezy should be a happy camper if he ever breaks 3:50.
I'd like to see him do it in this race, but that just wouldn't make any sense now would it?
Webb will burn the race up and rip it open just after the 1000, and he'll close in 56 to finish around 3:46.
It starts at 1:00 right?
What time does it start?
So what time does the gun go off EST today? I checked out the meet site and looked at a world clock but am not sure if Im getting it right that it is at 2:ish over here?
How long is asap for flocast on the video.
Did they already race it? Another thread said 7:15 pm Belgian time, and I think it's 7:30ish there now unless I'm mistaken.
