yes, he ran 3.58 and change on the mcdonald arena track. was done early on a sarurday morning. i'm pretty sure he did 4 x 400 after that. when you say crappy, then you are definetly right about that track.

i can tell you what his programme was the year of '92. he essentially lifted 2 times a week- he loved the weightroom. essentially it was a full body workout each time. mostly 3 x 10-15 depending on the day. he definetly lifted his legs- especially his hamstrings and seated leg presses. just routine movements- curls, military presses, triceps, etc. he also did plenty of situps and pushups each day as well. lastly, one of his favorite things was to see how many pullups he could do. i believe his record was 48 or something astronomical like that.
Are there any pictures of this guy? I've never seen him, but have heard about his running/weight room stories for a few years now and can't imagine what he'd look like, especially having a name like 'Joe Falcon'.

He does not look that big! Must of been very powerful!!!
he wasn't big at all- probably weighed less than 60 kilos at his absolute heaviest. as you said, definetly powerful though.
Hey, Dr. Swede, why don't you break down 60 kilos for us? Classic.
Just type this into Google:
"60 kilograms in pounds"
Now we can all be Swedish.
my fault. just multiply it by 2.2 to get pounds. tried to call you yesterday to no avail. wanted to ask you when you were going to publish that book of all the great milers training logs you have? who did you have? falcon, your dad, liquori, steve scott, steve holman, mcmullen...did you ever get webb to give you his hs breakout year?

Joe's competition weight was much closer to 53-54 kilo!!!
I heard Joe used to shoot squirrels, skin them, let them soak in Pepsi for a week then eat them.

What do you mean? That you have all of these training schedules? How did you get them? Who is his dad? I would really be interested in seeing Mart Liquori's if you had that. Can you email these to me?
His dad is Jim Ryun. I would be interested in seeing some more logs too. Terwilliger7@yahoo.com

He wasn't a big guy at all, but was built pretty sturdily.
Glad to see that someone posted his 1988 indoor NCAA 3000 m . Arkansas won the meet with only three athletes scoring. I think they did it one year with only two.
