Well?
Well?
Maybe im a little sad, ok im definetly sad, but I feel a little cheated by this thread. I read it all the way through and was looking forward to a great finale.
I feel like ive read 90% of a book and lost the final few concluding chapters.
Its leftme with an empty feeling inside.haha

This thread is a little like one of those threads where somebody insists they're going to start running 200 miles a week. Everybody gives them advice or says it won't happen or what have you, then you never hear from the "runner" again.
The funny thing is, I think most people would respect the runner if they tried what they set out to do, failed, and reported back about their failure.
I ran the race. Sorry to I left some of you hanging. I went out strong, hit the first 200 in 27 seconds and thought, damn, I feel good. I backed off since I was ahead of schedule and coasted through 400 at 57 seconds. I was so confident I grabbed a beer my friend handed to me at 500 meters and I downed it. From there I cruised it in for an easy 1:53. I won the bet, but I told the guy he didn't have to pay if he'd give me a bj.
This is the original poster that guy above was an imposter.
Sorry to be so late I was tied up with some pretty heavy things this weekend. I got test results back on Friday that indicate that I have a rare and aggressive form of phallinoma, but with immediate therapy (Chemo, radiation), the doc says he can save the organ. The upside is that I will be treated with a cocktail of steroids and EPO, which means that, combined with the weight loss in treatment, sub-2:00 is as good as in the bag.
Thank you Letsrun for all your interest and support.

That gave me a good chuckle.

I still have not tried to run the 1/2. I have been sick for the past week. I agreed to try this Wednesday or Thursday despite the fact that I haven't been running.
i could sure go for some peruvian chicken right now...
Is this ever gonna go down?
I went out in 59 and hit a wall at 500m and ran 2:25. A guy who agreed to pace me ran 2:01. It was brutal yet very very funny for all involved. I was good on my bet and bought the chicken. Even though I had to pay for two meals, it still tasted delicious. Those Peruvians know how to make chicken.
Not messing.
thanks for the closure...whoever you are.

If that's true, then that is one brutal last lap.
I ran similar times in college and am also about 3 years removed from running. There is no way in hell I could run 2 flat off a couple of low mileage weeks. Your outcome is about what I would've expected. A good reminder not to try something similar unless it involves beer.
In all honesty, for about 5 minutes I was thinking that it was the worst feeling I had ever experienced in my life (running wise), but I quickly realized that I was nowhere near in as much pain as I was when I raced when I was in my best shape. I really just didn't have the same threshold for pain and my body pretty much just refused to go on, hence the wall.
It was really funny though, no doubt about it. The rabbit was also wearing briefs, which added to the fun.
I'm still running, and will probably attempt another 1/2 sometime in the spring.
