The cameraman should definitely lose whatever press credentials he had, but I agree with another poster: not sure why the rest of the runners didn't finish. Didn't look like anyone was particularly hurt.
I think it was a knee-jerk reaction to stop running: once the first couple guys (who probably were legit injured) stopped running, everyone else just imitated them. Mirror neurons. It's a way the brain works; human beings imitate one another other for survival, it's a primitive part of the brain.
Obvi, the guy who kept running didn't follow the herd mentality.
He really didn’t continue competing and his second lap must have been about 65 seconds. It was a very cheap win.
Had this happen in a 400m race once, it was awful. Saw the guy in my lane (I was in lane eight) and was on the home straight, so knackered I couldn't change trajectory so pretty much thought I was going to plough straight into him. I was deep in lactic acid and rigging up. Someone screamed at him and he got out of the way.
No awareness that there was actually a RACE in progress on the track!

Why is it wrong to name the perp? He’s onviously someone unfamilair with the sport. He should be banned. Say his name. Do we need a candlelight vigil??? Say his name!
Was this guy thrown out of the meet? Did Mt SAC put him on a permanent ban, and did they pass his name on to other SoCal meet directors? At the very least, he/his client should pay the schools involved in that race the travel expenses. That's a long way to fly for Arkansas to get a DNF.
