Stop "feeling sorry" for others just because you think they aren't getting paid what they're "worth". Athletes don't go into track & field to get "rich". As a high schooler, I'm sure Lutkenhaus has achieved beyond his wildest dreams & has a very promising future. That's way more than the vast majority of people. What does feeling sorry for someone who doesn't need or want that pity achieve?

This just comes down to what are your values. I am fine with your argument, but you had to know the “feeling sorry” part would trigger some of these social misfits. If you just say Cooper should be paid more, that is fine. But of course many would probably say some of his teachers should be paid more, so it depends on what you value. Again if the top 800m runners in the world were paid like NBA stars, it might be quite a bit more competitive also.

If you’d poll 1000 Americans what the five main sports in America it’d definitely be nba, nfl, mlb, nhl and pry soccer. Other one in the top 6 would be golf. The sports you named aren’t.

That's irrelevant. The athlete's income does not depend on the name recognition in one market. Most people outside of US cannot name a single NFL player.
