Just to reiterate that Miami is indeed appalling when arriving, and RIDICULOUSLY slow. Having said that, departures is now very decent with the new lounge.
So yes, the winner is indeed sad old CDG. At least they're renaming the terminals 1-8 in 2027, instead of the confusing 2A/2F/2C etc etc that don't even come in order!
Why didn't France and England attack Germany in WWII., My great grandpa and uncles were attack soldiers while France and England sandbagged the whole war.
This is going to blow your mind. There were 5 beach invasions on D-Day. Not just Omaha and Utah. Sword Juno and Gold. Canadians did their fair bit on that day (Juno). I am guessing you were using sarcasm but with the current Education standards who knows.
I'm going to nominate Buka (BUA). Small, crowded (when a plane comes in). My favorite Buka moment was seeing people do as the sign directed -- "all weapons must be stored in the hold." People were very nice, though, especially since a longish war was ending.
BOQ was another difficult one. Terminal was a leaf hut, but it did have an outhouse.
I nominate Las Vegas. I flew in and out of there multiple times, but never achieved a full grasp of the airport layout…. Especially when you add in various scenarios of flying, like getting dropped off or picked up vs driving there yourself and parking long-term… Or flights at a different terminal or airline…. After some experience with the airport, we figured it was easiest to be picked up and/or dropped off in the passenger arrival section and avoided the passenger departure area….unless I was doing curbside check in that day. ….. which reminds me of the lines, unpredictable! Sometimes those lines were extremely long at baggage check-in or at the security gate… You just never knew… even for 5:20 AM flights.
Then there’s a spot where the escalators skip a floor that you might want to go to.
And there’s a spot where all the arriving passengers are trying to walk out to the parking garages and pick up area, but you have a man there with a gate that stops you because he needs to let 50 cabs pass through. Meanwhile, the people waiting for the 50 cabs to pass through cram up and back up outside the building, into the doors, and inside the building, and everyone just crams up there with their bags waiting to pass through a small area. If it’s your first time and you crammed up at the back in the building, you would wonder what the heck is going on and why nobody’s moving because you can’t really see out to figure out what’s going on. Once you do start moving, it’s a total bottleneck situation.
On one trip, I drove myself to the airport and parked in the garage for about four days. When I came back, my window was busted out and someone had stolen my ticket stub for the parking garage. That’s all they took, which was stupid because they could’ve gotten $40 out of the console and a couple other little goodies. Trying to figure out how to file an airport police report, and get out of the garage without a ticket stub was a nightmare. I called the security line I found on the concrete walls. They asked for my parking space number and said they would send somebody out to me. 25 minutes later no one had showed up so I called again and they said report to the security office, so I headed back into the airport. I eventually learned that whoever took the stub couldn’t have used it anyways because the stub gets aligned with your license plate number… which made me realize the stub was not necessarily needed. Anyhow, as it ended up, nobody knew nothing about trying to figure out what happened to my vehicle stub and car break in. Every new step in the process was 10 to 15 minute wait… Then, all they knew was that I was getting charged the maximum amount for use of the parking garage. They rounded the bill up since I didn’t have the ticket stub. I drove home 2 hours on a hot day with the driver side window busted out. Fun times.
Based on layout inconvenience, inefficiency, angry people, and just plain filthy conditions, I’ll nominate CDG in Paris. Connecting flights to The States or South America from there seem to be the absolute worst.
Charlotte, NC. Spoke and wheel layout; always seems connections go from the end of one spoke to the end of the furthest-distance next spoke. Plus, the weather issues there cause a lot of delays.
Hmmmm, maybe he or she thought it was obvious they were referring to Miami Airport.
Well done on both accounts! Yes discussing Miami. But if I said Miami proper I don’t love that, south beach I don’t love that. I do love Miami Beach and Bal Harbor. Thanks for keeping me honest. 👍
i like most of them, except the monsterous ones, and have had the pleasure of missing the horrible ones no doubt listed here.
san fran is my worst, for weather delays, location driving, missed connections,
best is Charlottetown, where is you need assistance, someone is there to bend over backwards. that said, for problems with tickets, the locals cant help you..

I'm in Madrid Barajas (Spain) airport right now (Terminal 1) as we speak and I'm very impressed with everything being highly organized it's got to be one of Europe's best airports and they basically fly everywhere. Food costs are reasonable as well and you can get a decent nutritious sandwich with all the add-ons for a reasonable price.
The big advantage of this airport is that the train system and metro system runs right into the center of Madrid from the airport (to/from) and beyond and you can easily connect seamlessly to any destination you want to go to in Spain by train.
It's nice to avoid airports where the only option is an astronomically expensive taxi ride to the center of town as happened in many airports throughout the world.

Can't believe it took 5 pages to get to Charlotte! Agree. They are terrible. It's a major hub but built almost like a regional airport. Way too small, for the amount of traffic they have coming in.
