A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!
What kind of a freak writes something like this?
Senility causes us to let down our social guards and so more of a person's true nature is exposed.
Why are people saying RIP? Rob was a self proclaimed Athiest. If there is no god and there is no afterlife, then there is no rest. It is simply the end.
More talent than sicko, jealous Donald Trump will ever have.
In my estimation, the meathead character in all of the family was the most influential ever. It was a harbinger of things to come. If you remember, at the end of the run, meathead became a college professor. This was art imitating life. You had a lot of 60s radicals going into the university system and as they moved up the ranks colleges moved more and more to the left. And you’re seeing the results now.
If you followed Reiner on Twitter, as I did back in the day, you’ll know he was meathead in real life.

Meathead was second most influential character ever. Archie Bunker was the most influential character ever. Harbinger of things to come. Art imitating life. You're seeing the results now.
It must hurt to be this stupid. The right went after ANYONE who bad mouthed Charlie Kirk after he was killed. You have got to be the most dumbest person on these boards today.
I support my president. Reiner made some great movies but his life since 2015 was one obsessed with President Trump. His hatred of DJT dominated his social media and interviews. His unhealthy obsession with opposing America First caused so many to stop listening to him and stop paying attention to his opinions. The scourge of drug abuse has ruined many lives, both addicts and their families. Between trying to help his son and his dangerous obsession with Trump his last years were certainly torturous despite his wealth. You cannot buy happiness and I do not wish the sad ending of his life on anyone.

You can support you're president and still think he is a disgusting turd for those comments. The two aren't mutually exclusive but then that would require thinking for yourself. I know that hurts your brain but try it.
A guy I hung out with in HS (but had lost touch with) was stabbed by his mentally ill son -his wife (who also went to HS with me) was killed. This happened literally a few streets over from me (didn't know they had moved that close to me). So it isn't unique, and has nothing to do with being a "nepo" kid. Sometimes stuff like this just happens - fortunately it is rare. He has moved from the area now, but the Killer's siblings have forgiven him as they want to move on with their lives, and help their Dad get on with his, and holding onto animosity won't alter the outcome.
Mental illness is a societal problem that needs empathy, something our POTUS doesn't seem to understand. Instead of closing mental institutions as a "waste" of money, there needs to be even more support. 1930's Germany decided to euthanize Mental patients, as a step towards the holocaust (it wasn't just Jews who were killed). I see that direction beginning to appear with the lack of empathy that pervades our current political landscape - see the execution of so-called narco-terrorists (unproven). The slippery slope is here now.
You might have had a point until your last couple sentences. You harp on about mental illness, but then you criticize efforts to stop the flow of drugs, which is one of the root causes of the mental health crisis in this country. The more states like California liberalize drug laws, the more likely incidents like this are to take place.

That's "atheist," dear.
From the Latin a meaning without and Theo meaning god. Literally translates to Without God.

I like your post. One thing that I see as important to all of this is your use of the word, empathy. Empathy is the ability to deeply understand and share another person's feelings, perspectives, and experiences, going beyond just recognizing them to actually feeling with them. That is one of the reasons that Kirk fought against the use of the word and instead encouraged the use of sympathy, which is simply feeling for someone.
I know very little about Kirk, but immediately disliked people piling on is comment about empathy because his point was a good one and it was intellectually dishonest to claim that he was advocating that we do not care about others. You do not deeply feel and understand what it is like to be mentally ill (maybe you do, but you seem very balanced), so empathy is not the correct word. You can sympathize and care and love and feel for others, but empathy requires personally understanding and knowing their situation. For instance, if you have ever had a spouse go through chemo for brain cancer, you can empathize with another spouse in that unfortunate situation. If not, you can have sympathy for them.
I am not being pedantic. This seems to really be an issue with the "sides" shouting at each other. But I agree with your general comment and appreciate your kindness. And I am truly sad about what happened to your friend.
