Has anyone talked to him about his health? Obesity is a silent killer. I'd be worried about him if I was on his team. Sometimes you need the hard truth.

I know he switched to beef tallow French fries for his mid morning snack to help his cholesterol. It’s a step in the right direction.
Nobody cares about a fat cranky guy that spends half his time at meets yelling at people to not watch teammates at long jump or watching races from the balcony. Dude needs a life
I’m more excited to talk about a Brauer vs Cole Brauer mile. And all those guys and Indy taking on the K. Or whether Mo would have lapped Turlington today if he was allowed to race.
Back to talking about the athletes -
AOTW nominees -
Men's Sprints - 3 Bethel athletes could be considered, but I'll say Liu for MIAC leading 60
Men's Mid D - Moore ran a MIAC leading 800m and narrowly missed the fieldhouse record. Lelinga deserves attention for returning to action with a strong 600m. Can't wait to see him join an already crowded 800m group.
Men's Distance - I hope Kevin Turlington bought Calvin Boone a lunch of Hamms and zyns for his perfect pacing. Turlington runs 8:17 but likely won't qualify for Nationals. I know the Ole admin doesn't want Power to spend money, but not putting a talent like him in races with national competition is criminal. Very similar to their 10K issues last year leaving XC All-American Skemp sitting at home.
Men's Jumps/Multis - I'll go with Gustie hero Connor McCormick here. Had a nice HJ PR and jumped at LJ PR distance to move onto the national list and beats arch rival Soren Kastor.
Men's Throws - Again Trent Beseth, but this time for his Weight Throw. Can he be a double AA?
Women's Sprints - Ariella Rogahn-Press of Mac runs a fieldhouse record in the 200m and ranks 11th in the country. A runner-up shoutout to St. Olaf on breaking their school record and taking the MIAC lead by three seconds. If the rumors of their coach taking Power's job are true, the team is in good hands.
Women's Mid Distance - Isabel Wyatt seems to be rounding into form running a MIAC leader in the K after running a MIAC leader in the 800 last week. It appears they have replacement in waiting in Cora DenHartog.
Women's Distance - We were surprised to not see Hannah Preisser race at 5K this weekend. It seems likely she's gearing up for a big race with a more established field. Lauren Walda gets her flowers for running well at her home 5K.
Women's Jumps/Multis - Bethel multi Elle Hernes claims the MIAC lead with PR's in the 800m and long jump. She sits 16th nationally.
Women's Throws - Hamline thrower Lexi Brainer heaves a monster PR at the U of M, ranking 4th in the country!
Which group of MIAC athletes is more impressive right now throws or 800?
And why is St. Mary's sneaky the best sprint school? And why is the MIAC lowkey dogisht at any event above a K?
Depth - 800m. Ability to score at Nats - throws.
Holy crap, 1:52 - 54 - 54 - 55 - and 56 from Oles last weekend?
And that’s without their freshman who ran 1:52 last year and ran 1:21 for 600 last week. No. 1 800 squad in the country. And I’ll remind you Power does not coach them and has nothing to do with their success.
Do the Oles have a miler for an elite DMR? I think the Carls can crush one in March, but they'll have to stay healthy. Looks like the Johnnies can also run sub 10:00. Would be awesome to see a few teams make Nats, which hasn't happened in over a decade. It is very early, but the Ole 4 x 400 would make it right now. They won't beat Bethel, but maybe they'll give them competition for a few legs.

And it's a shame that all of those athletes are still PHIL'S RECRUITS, and all out of state runners at that. When will Chunko recruit soybean fed Minnesotans again? I'm much more impressed with Brendo with his Gusties running 2:01, 2:06, and 2:10 last weekend. All freshman! With Brauer as a 4th it's not unreasonable to think they could sneak just under 8:20 in a varsity 4X800. The future is bright in St. Peter!
Actually, their 800 group is mostly Minnesota guys. And the 800 coach is from Minnesota. I think main idea is he’s not getting the credit he deserves for coaching them and Isabel Wyatt.
Cole Stencel of the Johnnies owns MIAC distance after walking down the Gophers for a meet record 4:10. Word on the street is that he tempoed the first half?!?!
Considering the Johnnies don’t take Indoor seriously from a training standpoint, I fully expect this kid to run 3:45 Outdoor. It’s a new era for the Johnnies. He’s my pick to win whatever events he enters at the MIAC. I’d think Mile and 3K are his easiest path with a possible DMR leg to claim MVP honors.
AOTW time -
Men -
Sprints - Grant Nelson almost running sub 48 at La Crosse good for 5th in the country. Unfortunately, La Crosse used the stupid seeding rules and he didn't get to race bestie and MIAC GOAT Jacob Parent. This mark was 3/4 of a second faster than the same meet last year.
Mid Distance - Ole Freshman Paxon Myers lived up to some of his hype, defeating outdoor champ Lance Nemecek and Owen Montreuil from St. John's. Owen ran a four second Indoor PR. Will we see him run sub 1:50 Outdoors?
Distance - Cole Stencel is him. Runs the 10th best time in the country and defeats the best the Oles and Carls have to offer. Ihrke looked impressive in running a massive PR at the longer distance.
Jumps - an event group that will likely not factor into national conversation. Nick Bovitz of Bethel is quietly improving each week. He narrowly missed a TJ PR running a 60 PR last week and having a LJ PR two weeks ago. Where are Reis & Schreiner?
Throws - Big Coop, welcome to the party. Folkestad claims the national lead and is only 56 m shy of a PR. Two is his throws ranked in the top three in the country. We are seeing something historic in the MIAC Shot Put!
Women -
Sprints - Ariella Rogahn-Press runs the MIAC record (even when converted to a flat time). She is tied for the National lead!
Mid-Distance - Kyle Newgard now leads the MIAC 600m by almost a second winning versus several D1 athletes.
Distance - Super Carleton Frosh - Vukovics and Tittel run MIAC leaders in the Mile. Watching these two battle the next few years will be impressive. I don't think anyone will knock Carleton off the distance podium.
Jumps - Bethel's Ellie Hernes moves into the top 30 in the country in the TJ. She also ranks in the top 25 for the pentathlon. Back to back weeks with national marks in different events is hard to top!
Throws - Anna Speratos shows that Hamline's Brainer will have competition in the Weight Throw hitting a big PR to move into 8th Nationally!
Where is Max Reis this season? Is Ryan Cramer a sneaky favorite to win the 60m MIAC?
If healthy, nobody touches Landen Liu. Reis isn't on their TFRRS roster so maybe redshirting this season?
Crazy disrespect to not honor conference qualifying Wes Catton from Bethel, coming off two years of injuries to return to the eye-popping freshman form with a crisp 9:07 at river falls.
Ihrke vs. Indy vs. Brauer in the 1000m may be the best race of the weekend at Carleton. Looks like he's doubling back after the mile, but he may tempo that again. Looks like Gabe will solo the 3K. There is a chance he'll lap someone in the fast heat! It's too bad Dave banned the Oles from his meets. Would be good for Gabe to face Turlington again. And Turlington's time isn't close to qualifying, so they could work together to run fast.
Tommy Schreiner is jumping this weekend! Also, Cooper is throwing weight too. Looks like the Cobbers are hunting points! They're my sneaky pick to finish third in the MIAC.
Women’s race of the weekend -
Rogahn-Press vs. Hookom in the 600 or Nygard running the 800 on the big track?
