10/15/2025 - This thread started well before anything was confirmed by Iowa State.
A volunteer moderator deleted several threads on this topic. That's not the way this should work. We believe in free expression and have reinstated them and merged them into this one thread.
As we wrote at the time, "If there is no truth to these rumors, please contact us at letsrun@letsrun.com or give us a call at 844-538-7786 and we will be happy to delete them and issue a statement."
It ends up appearing that the rumors had some teeth to them. Earlier today LetsRun.com co-founder Robert Johnson emailed head coach Jeremy Sudbury to let him know about this thread and asked if there was any truth to it.
At 3:31 pm ET, coach Sudbury emailed me the following:
Hello Robert, Thank you for reaching out directly. There were team rule violations. I have worked with our administration, and the involved athletes have been suspended and will not compete the remainder of this season. Have a nice rest of your weekend. Jeremy
Ok, since it’s very light; simply “breaking “team rules”, who are the athletes that we will not see at NCAA? I guess they simply broke curfew or did not clean the locker room…
it simply relates to “team” rules. Not NCAA rules or anti doping rules.
Glad that the coach made this clear. Hopefully it does not end up being bigger than simply team rules. Otherwise he will sound like a liar/dishonest individual/untrustworthy…

you dont suspend somebody for the entire postseason for breaking curfew or not cleaning a locker room. Even giving the benefit of the doubt that its not drugs, its certainly far more serious than something like the above.

He said it’s simply team rules. What are other examples that are not NCAA violations, criminal offences…. Also, it seems that none of this is impacting his top 7 since he says it won’t impact the team. Glad that he is being straight and honest about this. The opposite would be terrible.
"Breaking team rules" could cover a lot of serious things like hazing, underage drinking, cannabis use, bullying, sexual assault, gambling, discrimination, etc. We will likely never know the specifics as it is an athletic department matter.

You are getting caught up in him saying "team rules" and what that means too much. Could be something less serious. Could be him purposefully being vague until the school's lawyers have looked into it.

Maybe theses are the rules and coach is mad nobody is following the team rules.
Very poor policy to allow unsubstantiated anonymous accusations of ped and naming names. Will LR take responsibility for defamation if this person is shown to be innocent?
