As a millennial, I’ve noticed this trend. We partied hard in our teens and college years, and then the habit became more “classy”. In our 20s it was all breweries, wineries and brunch. We drank because it tasted good. Then in our thirties with kids and all we realized how much alcohol makes us feel like crap and slows us down. So people cut down significantly on drinking. I think Gen Z, just skipped to the ‘it makes us feel crappy’ part. Booze is way less of a thing than it used to be.

Mostly not true.
Go to any college campus. Alcohol is still central to the social lives of most college kids. This past spring I went on a spring break with my HS senior, 15 other seniors, and all their parents to cancun. These kids, except one, we're boozing HARD [ drinking age 18, and it was an all inclusive resort. So all it is prepaid]. My kid was by far second most restrained. The other 14 drank way more than I ever did in HS.
I HIGHLY doubt this is an outlier group.
Now sure, On average, maybe this generation drinks a little less. But I think you are a greatly exaggerating the trend.

As a dillennial, I’ve noticed that beer in particular is practically like the craft brew that is released from my dill.
Alcohol is poison, along with vaping, and sll smoking. America cares about profit not health. Its not leaving, but they are finding other legal ways for ppl to get high smh
I would argue that marijuana is legal, but not necessarily safe.
My point was that when buying from a legit dispensary, you know what you're getting. Less sketchy then buying from some corner boy
I suppose if you buy from a dispensary, you have a better idea what you’re getting, but I would argue that marijuana in any form is not really safe. At least not “harmless” which is what we were all told when I was growing up.

to say no one is drinking any more is moronic - but to base it on the fact that brewers are shutting down is because there are so many people now brewing their own stuff - not because people are not drinking anymore.
have to say, I may fit this trend perfectly. Drank a lot of craft beer from 2014-2023 and now barely drink at all. It's for specific personal reasons though (started taking a medication that doesn't mix well with alcohol)
I'm not not drinking anymore for what it's worth. As a top customer of liquor vendors, they unanimously approve of this message.
Alcohol is bad for humans. People can do what they want, of course, but why bother. I can have a good time without it and wake up in the morning fresh as a daisy 🌼
I only drink wine or real alcohol. Mostly mezcal nowadays. I never liked beer and never will. It’s awful. Why anybody voluntarily drinks beer is crazy.

Lol.
" Globally, beer is the most popular alcoholic beverage. It accounts for the largest share of total alcohol consumption worldwide, significantly exceeding both wine and spirits."
No, but really, the rest of the world is "crazy", and YOU're the sane one.

Gen Z is vaping themselves into toxic oblivion. Also: ADHD + ADD drugs.
