I wonder how Molly sidel feels about catching strays and being lumped in with the bad ones that “abuse tue” since she’s recently went on about using stimulants
You're malding, seething, and sneeding because 1) a cheating criminal third-worlder is actually being held accountable and 2) a "white girl" dared speak up and advocate for herself.
I think a lot of people here are missing the point. Let’s not make this about racism or Shelby; Sisson clearly spoke out about this because she was runner-up in Chicago to Chepngetich who is now a known cheat, regardless of when she started to dope.
In addition to the above, Sisson has been *extremely* transparent about how hard she pushes her body to try to compete on the world stage, and often to the detriment to her body. Going into the Tokyo Olympics 10K she was injured and overtrained. Last year at the Olympics, she was very vocal about having trouble recovering and running multiple marathons in a year and how it was breaking down her body. I thought specifically of these instances when reading her Ruth post.
Anyone who follows the sport and its athletes close enough knows that Emily is not the type to dope. She has a life outside of running and is very grounded; she just is obviously a generational talent. Let’s not forget she was a high school record holder- she’s always had the talent.
I also think it’s pretty awesome she is only the 2nd non-East African to run 2:18 after Paula, who we all know was likely doping.
You mean she’s clean coz she said so? Or is anyone who hasn’t failed a test clean? Or what?
I don’t mean to be a jerk here but…cry me a river, Emily? Why does doping suddenly matter so much to American runners when a prominent Kenyan or Ethiopian gets caught? There is no reason to believe that doping isn’t absolutely pervasive in US circles. I understand Ruth’s 2:09 performance was despicable and I was disgusted too. But performances from US runners aren’t as flashy or fast but they are just as ridiculous. I won’t name them here but you know the ones I am talking about…
Where was Emily’s statement on Shelby Houlihan? Where was Emma Coburn branding Shelby a cheater? Shelby won 11 US titles and had to major American records when she was caught. Were they worried that if they spoke up when Shelby cheated that it would affect her “mental health” or that they’d be “bullying” her? Why do those hesitations suddenly fly out the window when a runner is foreign and dark skinned?
The hypocrisy is so hard to ignore. It’s hard to believe that any of these women actually care about doping in the sport, or even that they themselves are clean. It looks more like they are hopping on the bandwagon and patting themselves on the back for not doping “like that”.
Yalll have short memories, she was one of the athletes that signed the letter in support of Shelby being suspended.

Sweetie I’m not assuming she’s clean because she said so. I’m assuming she’s clean because she has never tested positive and has had no performances that are outside of the realm of possibility based on her career progression and equivalent race performances in other distances. Of course it’s possible for people to be doping who have never tested positive, but unless there are blatant performance outliers or other suspicious occurrences, ie whereabouts failures etc, it doesn’t make much sense for me personally to make accusations or assumptions about them.
There should be retrospective punishments with doping. You lose every medal, win and record along with a lifetime ban. Clean athletes deserve better than what they're getting.
Let's not forget the agents and coaches. They both know first hand whether their athlete is cheating or not. If they don't, they're either lying or are fu^&ing idiots, or both.
I've said it over and over, the punishment needs to be cranked up, not just stripping them of medals and wins, but substantial financial consequences.
agents would want to bury their head in the sand.
if you have 50 athletes you easily have no idea.
some athletes may not know what they are doing..
so it is a mess.
if an agent has several athletes test positive, youvcan kick him out.
that way agents will have some incentive to sign on athletes and coaches that mught be on the straight and narrow, versus no vetting what so ever.
women can run under 220 clean, but this takes real talent and the best training, add in the super courses legal vitamins, and shoes, all in, you can have something like 215.
Something like that. I look at it from the other way:
1) Doping can aid performance by 2-4%, depending on who you are asking (e.g., Salazar, Canova or Dr. Schumacher).
2) The best doper ever ran 2:10 (rounded). 2% thereof: 2.6 minutes, again rounded to 2.5 minutes for simplicity.
3) Adding 1 + 2: if clean, this person could have run 2:12:30 - 2:15.
4) In turn, times slower than 2:15 are quite believable (in general, depending on coach + progression etc., and today of course with supershoes etc., not 20 years ago).
So tired of hearing things like this. Just stop. There are MANY non-white athletes who are beloved. MANY white athletes are hated. You sound so ridiculous. Quit listening to the race-baiters.
"'Ignorance is bliss' is how you have to operate on a starting line to give yourself a shot and not count yourself out of any race. Plus, you can have your own gut instinct but you can never really know.
What has been something that has been hard for me to swallow lately, is feeling like trying to keep up has really taken a toll on my body. I try to keep things light and positive but when news like this breaks it feels like a punch in the gut.
To any young athletes out there that might think everyone is cheating or must have a TUE, I know you can only take my word, but I promise it is possible to make it to the world stage without doing so. Don't lose hope. ❤️"
Sisson took second to Chepngetich in 2022 Chicago.

Sounds like you are not disagreeing with anything I actually said. Maybe drink a glass of water, babe.

Leftism in a nutshell.
Leftism is the future.
It’s most hilarious when people accuse you of “leftism” when you don’t even identify with that label. When you piss off both sides, you are probably on to something.
1) She and Emily haven't really competed in the same events at the same time
2) There's a more stigma to calling out someone from your own country
1) BECAUSE HOULIHAN WAS BANNED, DUH.
- Sisson raced the 5000 every year from 2013 until 2021 (except 2020, COVID), when she finally broke 15 with a 14:53.
- Houlihan likewise raced the 5000 every year from 2013 until 2020, just better or worse than Sisson's season's best until DESTROYING Sisson's PB by 40 seconds in 2020, running 14:23 in the year of the burrito.
- You think Sisson didn't notice that?? Including in 2021, after Houlihan was banned, and then Sisson PBed but couldn't sniff Houlihan's 2020 time? Of course she did.
😵😵😵😵😵
2) Both being American may be ONE real reason Sisson has nothing to say about Houlihan. I can think of others. In any case, to only speak out against people around the world just seems a bit...gutless.
Where was Emily’s statement on Shelby Houlihan? Where was Emma Coburn branding Shelby a cheater? Shelby won 11 US titles and had to major American records when she was caught.

Brave to sign a letter in support of suspending someone who was already suspended!

Yes. It’s the only way. All records and medals stripped. They need to suffer all the consequences of cheating.
Stripped of every award and all result sheets/links amended to include a * next to their name, or some universally agreed-upon character that denotes this athlete cheated and their times should be considered irrelevant to the sport.

I gather from their silence, that athletes worldwide do not believe Houlihan intentionally doped for performance reasons.
