What makes you think she's capable of the U20 world 10k record? Or did you mean U.S. high school record for 10k?

Now that she has all the major records I'd think it would be smart to shut down for the season but I could see a few reasons to keep racing. 1) Run WC standard for 5000m, isn't it like 14:50? Not sure if she can get that but she's in the ballpark. Might be risky to go for it because it's another 100% effort race in an already long season. Maybe their goal is to run her in the 5000m at nationals though. 2) Break the HS 10000m record, should be easy, probably wouldn't have to hurt much to do it. 3) Not sure if she is monetizing her race vids, etc but there's probably some income to be made just to show up at another race since she has a lot of fans. Maybe go to NON, wreck everyone easily and wave goodbye to HS.

Personally, I'm conservative so I'd probably shut it down. I think she's well-coached and managed so I'm sure they'll handle things the right way.

So her 8:40.99 would be #5 NCAA all time (0.1 away from 4th). Faster than what Valby did as a Collegian. Then she continued to pick it up for a further 218m.

At this point she needs to go pro. Running 4 years in college is a waste when she is already better than the college competition. She needs to train to win World Championships and Olympic medals, not conference and NCAA titles. She is clearly next level.

Shouldn’t really be using that en route 8:40.99, when her conversion easily puts her at 8:36. What does 8:36 place her all time NCAA?

The game has changed. NIL and universities paying their athletes will allow her to run at BYU and basically be a pro. It may not be as much as signing an actual pro contract, but I have a feeling she WANTS to go to BYU. I'm sure Coach Taylor will take into account her abilities and allow her to run things like USATF Indoors/World Indoors, etc. I have a feeling she will compete for BYU for at least two seasons and possibly all four.

With the way NIL is totally unpoliced and rules are unenforceable, she'll make more money at BYU than any women's distance runner has probably ever made.

She indicated she doesn’t plan to run US Nationals (although that could change). Nike Outdoors and then a break. Think she’s looking toward to the college experience.

Was at the meet. Not in Seattle, despite what Brooks website said. Rather, at Renton High School, about 15-20 miles to the SE. Temps pushing 90, but relatively low humidity. Wind gauge gave readings of 1.0+ tailwind, but headwind on the long backstretch seemed higher. Events stayed on time. Very poor media for this meet, as has been true for the past several years of Brooks PR, even with Josh Kerr in attendance. Nothing in the Seattle Times. Stands were about half to three quarters full. Then again, University of Washington track team gets little to no coverage. So much for sports track reporting in the area. Hats off to the athletes who participated after a busy high school season and multiple national shoe meets to attend

Really remarkable, and like a boxer uniting belts, she's been able to gather pretty much all the records indoor and out for the key distances.

Good thing they are getting the official enroute times for 3000 3200etc, as even though it's not ideal conversions - the en route times are official and count!!!

I’m Alan Webb’s age, so watching his 3:53 was mind-blowing, especially as a kid who was focused on breaking 4:20. Haha

This is the first high school performance since Webb’s 3:53 where my mind is blown. 9:17 is incredible.

I knew state champ guys who ran that fast in high school who ran 14:10’s by the end of college.

And less than a second from #2 all time (behind only Tuohy’s 8:35.2i). That’s insane.

a friend of mine was a professional mid distance runner for many years up until recently and only didn't run much faster than this (if he even did?) in high school and was one of the top boys in the country at footlocker 2x... 3:33, 13:15 type as a pro when those times were respectable...

I would love to see Blade run a 10k. I suspect she could run into the 31s based on her times in other events. I'm still astonished she ran 15:13 - that is SO FAST.

I agree. Also, she isn't head and shoulders above collegiate competition yet - women like Kosgei and Lemngole are very, very good and will challenge her. I'm honestly not even sure she will win XC in the fall.

By the way, does anyone else think she could be a really good at steeple? Tall, good wheels, great turnover, strong endurance. The 3k range seems like her sweet spot as well.
