How I've missed the platter!

How many times do ignorant posts like this have to be shot down before people grasp the fact that the first half of the Boston course drops about 400', with no uphills to speak of?

The running calculator at www.mcmillanrunning.com says he ran the equivalent of 13:22, 22:01 8k, 27:45, 43:01 15k, 46:30 10 mile, 58:32 20k, 1:01:46, and 2:10:16

Calculators are, of course, pretty unreliable but VDOT has him at 7:46-13:32-28:11-1:02:02-2:09:59. Seems pretty spot on for him.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure he just turned 24. He's only a fifth year - I'm almost positive he graduated high school in '01.

A lot of people forget Cabada ran in the junior world cross championships back then. He was on the team with Ritz, Spiker, Tegenkamp, Dobson, and Maline. A few years ago they seemed to be a bit of a cursed group (with the exception of Dobson who has been very consistent over the years), as Teg, Spiker, Maline and Ritz were always hurt and Cabada couldn't pick a school and stay with it. But perhaps things are looking up. Cabada is obviously running better than ever, Tegenkamp has started to shrug off the injury bug, Dobson has had a couple breakout years, and maybe, MAYBE, Ritz has turned the corner.

i didnt know much about cabada before except he was a fast college kid but this time is insane. maybe some of the hansons should link up with him. very very promising.

This guy is on a roll. I agree strike when the iron is hot. He's raced a lot this year so far but I would love to see him in a marathon soon. Grandmas?

Anyone who says it doesn't raise a red-flag is biased or ignorant, but it's also damned amazing. Regardless, reasonable people, especially the distance running community should give the guy a token period of respect before shitting on his race - what is the sense of being so reactive and malicious?

Perhaps he used it as a hard training run?

"I'm using this to train for the USA 25K Championships in two weeks," Cabada said. "I'd like to get a top two there."
