Per Hall’s post-college pro career, I’m curious what drove the ASICS+ training group (Kastor, Meb, Hall, etc., with Mahon) to train out of Mammoth instead of Big Bear?
Bob Larsen was coaching Meb and Joe Vigil was coaching Deena in Mammoth, and they were collaborating on training philosophy. Hall and others basically came to Mammoth somewhat later to try to replicate Meb and Deena's success. Mahon only took over the group's coaching when Meb and Deena were starting to wind down their running careers.
Mammoth Track Club kind of blows now. I don’t even know they were around until I looked and found their website. I
I'm really excited to see how this team will develop over time. World class progress like this doesn't happen overnight, but it's great to see Brosnan shaking things up once more. He may be a polarizing figure, but he sure knows how to keep us engaged and interested. In fact, I found myself browsing the Skechers website today because all this. The only downside is that the new shoes I wanted to try out aren't available for testing within 100 miles of where I am. I wish I could give them a go!
Checked Big Bear Track Club's instagram, and on their story they reposted Skechers announcement of their new carbon shoes. This was announced today, and the repost from BBTC said "Big moves in the works. New energy. New Mission."
Honestly, I think this thing is shaping up to be legit.

Carlos Handler actually uses the IG for Big Bear Track Club. But here's the interesting part - agents are saying it's actually a new team name linked with Skechers, rather than directly associated with Big Bear Track Club. Apparently, BBTC is more of a high school-related entity. I'm curious what they might be naming this new group?
It’s a playbook from ON. A few years ago, there was some chatter about a new group and coach Ritz, and they officially announced it in August after NCAA and USA's. I have a strong feeling that it's following the same rough timeline. They have clearly been actively recruiting and working with agents. This is something needed in the track world, for sure! Skechers baby! It’s will be interesting if more hits are dropped.
Word on the street is that Brosnan relocated to Big Bear and finally got his pro group.
-Sketchers (yes, not trying to meme)
-Big Bear Track Club rebrand
-He will coach 5k-10k runners
-Carlos Handler will coach 800-1500m runners
-Lotta of $ invested and they have already been recruiting (and have recruited) current NCAA athletes
Guys, he did it. He made it. Big props to our boy. He has been wanting this for awhile.
Huge win for Brosnan! Big Bear roots, a real pro squad, Sketchers backing—it’s all coming together. Can’t wait to see how the NCAA recruits shape up under his coaching.

Makes sense that Brosnan will do a group in Big Bear, CA. It’s definitely a meaningful place following Brosnan over the years.

I've got to be honest, I was a bit doubtful about ON initially, but they've really proven themselves and earned my respect. Seems like Skechers is really stepping up their game and making some strategic moves.

Are they? Like what specifically are they doing other than this rumor?

Skechers is hardly a mover and shaker in the running shoe industry. They just got bought out by a PE firm, so i would be suspicious of any major investments and would think pulling back any extra programs is a much more likely possibility.

Skechers has entered the big leagues of sports, now taking on basketball, soccer, and running. It's truly amazing how they're stepping up their game and investing in elite markets. Let's remember, success comes to those who are willing to push boundaries and explore new opportunities.

Just renewed Snoop Dogg. Yeah baby !!!!!
Skechers represents Hollywood glamour, while Brosnan is a member of the Jonathan Club. Their collaboration in Big Bear comes as no surprise.
