If her speed has improved slightly since 59.xx a couple years ago, and she could run a 58 low all out which i think is likely, I could see her running 60 mid, 64 for a 2:04.xx, but I wouldnt put her much raster than that. That being said, her mile really surprised me because i sort of assumed she was all aerobic and wouldn't be able to run a mile time in line wither her 2 mile/5k ability. Perhaps she will surprise again
I've been saying the same. Her handlers are playing with fire. Starting to feel a lot of the Monster Year of Touhy and Abby Steiner when both eventually got hurt

That's a very poor estimate of her 400meter speed. I'm pretty sure Jane's 5k pr is now just ahead of my 5k pr. I have ran 50.0 for 400 (retroactively and recently), so I'm sure she can do a low 54 or high 53 with little to no specific training. If she's doing 200meter repeats at practice, there's no doubt in my mind her final ones are easily 24-25 seconds.

This might be the dumbest drivel I've ever read on this board (and that's saying something).
If Jane breaks the 1:59.04 record, will that unquestionably make her The Undisputed GOAT US High School runner, of either gender, of all time?!?
👍
1. I think she will scare 2:00. At 6 feet tall her future is mid distance, not long distance. 2. if she breaks it she’s undisputed female goat. I still vote for Ryun as the goat. 3:58 solo on a dirt track in leather shoes is legit.

This is the 1st post in this thread besides mine that has any truth at all to it. I'm glad someone finally positively contributed.
Ryun was def good for his era, but Lutkenhaus is the modern day ryun. Same height, same stride, same everything. Ryun also got into politics. Overall I don't see anyone ever surpassing Webb on the overall best male American runner list, highschool or otherwise.
Back to Jane. The fact you understand she's gonna be about 2 mins (201 is my prediction) tells me that you have some sort of a running background, unlike all the other who have commented. Again, I'm sure she does a crapload of 200s in 24-25, and a crapload of 400s in 55-56. She's on the track atleast twice per week, albeit not always in spikes. I'm on the track 3x per week at burbank high in San Antonio because our college track is getting renovated. On my 200s I always start with a few 27s, then a few 25s, then end with a few 23s. There is NO reason a girl with Jane's mile/5k pr, who lives at altitude, should struggle going 2:00-2:01.
Just so all of you understand, the only reason I have her at 2:01 is because this race is being ran 4,200ft altitude. If this was sea level then I would have Jane at 1:56 high to 1:57 low.
The general view is that the reduced wind resistance and the lower O2 available are a wash. I suspect that the slower women do not gain as much from the thinner air but the speed difference is only about 11%, so I do not know how it splits. Since she is an altitude gal, probably not at a disadvantage.
And thanks for starting this thread and providing a starting point byu123 [curious if you were at BYU's XC wins this fall?]

BYU alum along with wife and all 3 of my kids went to BYU, 2 still attending. I have always followed BYU sports but followed XC this year just online and via FloTrack. I’ve been a track and field “junkie” my whole life . . . so seeing a local girl like Jane Hedengren perform at this level is awesome. I’ve went to several local BYU XC meets in years past when my daughter was doing HS XC. My oldest son competed in HS track during same years Casey Clinger was in HS here. Way back when I was at BYU Frankie Fredericks had just graduated BYU but trained often during the winter on BYU’s indoor track. I remember watching him run 200M intervals up close. Stunning how fast a world class sprinter looks up close.
My daughter and I are going to the BYU meet this Friday to watch Hedengren run the 800M. If anyone here is interested I could set up a “byu123LRC” YouTube channel and livestream the race????. I looked but couldn’t find any livestream option for the BYU Invitational . . . if it ends up there isn’t one I could do a livestream via YouTube. LMK if anyone is interested. I estimate the “elite heat” of girls 800M should start around 8:45am ish (Friday) MST

That would be a total waste of time and web space. Nobody on here cares about this that much, and anyone who is interested I'm sure will already be there watching in person. Please don't waste effort on a YouTube channel.
This imbecile 👆who posts anonymously 🤦♂️ keeps imagining I’m someone else 😂. I have never posted on LRC until several weeks ago, never been a coach, but definitely went to BYU. But I digress and . . . make the mistake of feeding a rabid troll by even replying to this loser. But . . . offer still stands for a live stream I anyone here is interested . . . see Supra 👆
