I think there needs to be more nuance in this conversation instead of everything being so black and white. Nikki and other trans activists are up in arms about the notion that anyone would think trans women competing is unfair, they don't even want to have the conversation, calling it transphobic. But the fact of the matter is, sports were separated by sex for a reason, and trans women, while not being men, ARE biologically male.
If they are biologically male, then they are men. That is pretty black and white. Or, XY and XX if you prefer.. This is not transphobic, it is biology.

Here's the thing. There absolutely has to be an avenue for trans women to compete. I think forcing them to compete and be counted as men is cruel in this circumstance. However, cis women shouldn't lose spots they previously had.
I don't have a solution that works but I'm thinking, trans women have their own category or increase the number of women who get to compete? IDK, I'm not a boston expert either.
Compete in ETC category but they must qualify by time as they started out at birth and not who they're now. No equivalent prize money for them either unless they also equal/better times of men in open field if they started off as men at birth. Fairness and equality goes both ways.

False equivalence. Gender is just a social construct. A specific species is not a social construct, it is a scientific reality.
Sex is a scientific reality but since the world should be decided by gender, not sex, for all non-medical categories and athlete should compete as their gender and not sex. No reason a male and female can't just compete head to head and let the best win.
There are actually many reasons why sport is sex separated. Males have several distinct physical advantages over women, or females if you prefer. They are well documented and you would do well to investigate this yourself.

transgenderism might be 'wrong' but so is authoritarianism... if men want to pretend they are women that is fine however society should not be gaslit into believing they somehow have less rights than the rest of society because of how they choose to live their life and society certainly should not be on the hook for any of their associated medical procedures.
"Authoritarianism" is simply extending one's personal principles into law and culture. Perfectly justified and necessary.
And no it is not "fine" for a man to pretend to become a woman. It's disordered and thus should be restricted.
