Yeah come to think of it, when Josette made a move at Millrose, she was also really slow to respond. Could be a tactical thing she has to work on/she needs time to wind up her speed?
Yea do you think Jakob needed to really push himself or was he simply conserving as much energy as possible for tomorrow?
People are crazy. Aregawi is excellent and he nearly beat him straight up. Jakob did have a 1500 round in his legs, but this more shows you the gap between Aregawi and his choking compatriots in the 5,000.
Yes. Credit to aregawi. not sure if jakob was at 99% or 100% here, but he was working. The 1500 round took something out of him.
he was around 2.5 seconds slower over the final 600, 2 seconds slower over final 400, and 1 second slower over the final 200 compared to yesterday.
That was not a sub 25 last lap. Ngl I’m not impressed by this. Josh Kerr dropped a low 25. And ran sub 7:40. According to citius, he closed in 26.67.
Doesn't matter what Josh Kerr ran, it was a different race. I would say, however, that Jakob beat a stronger field than what Josh faced. Aregawi > Barega/Nuguse, obviously (7:21 guy).

Great 3k race from the men (and the women too). Sitting in the stadium. The local love that Jakcy boy, and he takes his time meeting fans too. Admittedly, they love their 60m hurdlers more, a deep tradition here in that event.

Jakob is gonna have to work tomorrow. If there was anybody from the top 5 going, I'd be a little more worried. 2 straight days of hard closing in his legs is NOT nothing.
not a comparable race at all. He also intentionally saved the kick for the last straight when he didnt get first in the second to last bend. If areghawi was fast enough to run 25.5 in the last lap you can bet on Jakob still beating him.

Today they picked it up from 1200 and 800 out, and in Glasgow it was really the last 400. Today 1:58.5/58 and last year 2:03.3/60.2. That took the sting was out of the last lap a bit. Barega definitely would’ve fared better today imo, as he can close in low-26s.

Jakob could have done that blindfolded. He wasn’t trying.

What are we talking about here? The 1500 field is a clown show. Jakob will win tomorrow without trying

If this were the case he would’ve gotten the lead before the last 30 meters. Aregawi ran the exact race that can beat the better man indoors and he was fresher, that’s it. I don’t get the denial over this….Jakob still won.

Jakob was intentionally waiting for the final 50, Aregawi was flying in the homestraight but Jakob knew he would slow down. People thinking that he was struggling are crazy. Also, Aregawi is a 7:21 3000m runner, nothing to be ashamed about.
