Lobalu is a Competitor for GST in the 5000/3000 field.
States his injury is minor, so he may have been forced to sacrifice The TEN in favor of being ready for Kingston the week following.
GST's pay structure is likely much more influential to a former Refugee athlete compared to others. Can't blame him if that was the choice he had to make.
I think this year shows how much Cranny loves racing. Now that she's not being coached by Schumacher, she can race more than once or twice a year. I am 100% here for that.
Elise sure has been upbeat since connecting w/Cornfield a year ago this time.
Only downer was her Oly 5000 final when she hit a wall with about 700 to go; claims still not to know what fully happened, but likely due to slight lack of fitness due to injury a few months prior.
Per her Flotrack interview today (3/28 Fri), confirmed she is targeting sub-30. Flotrack interviewer confirmed Weini Kelati will also do the same. Have to believe Hailu w/29:55 pr will be there, as well as Aussie Lauren Ryan/30:35 pr.
Also note that women's Tokyo race will also have pacing lights set for 30:45. Seems like an odd choice . . . until one realizes the college record is 30:50.43 set last year by Parker Valby. And Pamela Kosgei/NM is the one collegian in this race. We shall see.
We shall also see whether Habtom Samuel/NM can break Nico Young's 26:52.72 CR set at this meet last year where Habtom finished 5th in 26:53.84.
Why do the Indian runners put "Mr" and "Ms" as their first name instead of their actual first name?
These are their first names (Rahul and Ankita), it's last names they aren't using (although for official purposes they become the equivalent). Last names in India often reflect castes, and some Indians want to get away from the caste system. Even the World Athletics profiles of these 2 athletes list just their first names.

The calculus is simple for any athlete in Lobalu's position: he already has the 10000m standard from his race in Valencia in January and he has no competition for a place on the Swiss team. The Ten probably isn't paying him and if it is, it's probably a relative pittance. GST will give him tens of thousands. Any athlete in that position would take the GST dollars rather than do a time trial for no real benefit.

Casteism is a myth. It's just a Hinduphobic lie. I'm not Indian but that's what I've heard.
Why is Courtney Wayment entered? Backup in case she doesn't make the WC steeplechase team?
Looks like Wayment is racing, not pacing. Base training before diving into steeple-specific stuff, I guess. Will she stick with the Venters/Roe/Vestri/Kosgei group or push ahead?
Flomena Asekol listed running the 1500 sponsored by On.
Coached by Ritz?
Allie O listed in the early 10k, but may not run due injury in last vlog.
As I understand it, runners coached by Ritz are listed as attached to OAC. On-sponsored athletes unattached to OAC (such as Asekol, Wayment, Raess) race for "On" or "OAC Europe" rather than OAC.

Yeah, I have no idea why he was doing it in the first place. But I do believe the injury is legit and this wasn’t a business decision impacted by GST. For Bryce Hoppel, who ditched USAs/Worlds to do Lieven and Kingston GST that’s a bit more obvious.

Sub-26:50 for both Samuel and Blanks is looking really good.
