This is the case in Spain. Biological children receive at least 1/3 of the inheritance, split equally, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
That's awesome! I will become a Spanish citizen, have 6 kids, and DOUBLE my wealth, since each of my six kids is required to receive 1/3 of it. I guess the Spanish government makes a matching contribution in that case. Reportedly, "there's nothing anyone can do about it" so they ALL will receive at least 1/3. Nice.
I should have 9 kids there in Spain... Dang, what a great deal.
Your commitment to the bit is what makes your poor reading comprehension especially funny.
Gene had 3 kids with his first wife, and supposedly he wasn't around much. Dumped wife for an Asian who was 28 when he was 60. YUCK!!!! Seems like they were both total recluses. Doesn't Gene have grandkids? Doesn't she have any friends, family? Didn't he have celebrity friends? They were BOTH dead for 3 weeks! No one called, texted, stopped by? Ya, he was 95 and had Alzheimer's, but she was young 61. Very bizarre.
Yeah, there is a lot of nuance to this. Parents should have taught them better, but obviously, only two became screw-ups, so that is on them. Parents could also teach them how to manage the finances, but again, the two screw-ups would probably screw that up, too.
Any competent will would have a provision in it if the spouse predeceases the testator. And as far as leaving the kids out, it's entirely possible that he was very generous to them while he was alive, and so there was less incentive to provide for them in the will. Or maybe the kids were just jerks. I'm sure he had a lawyer draft the will so it aligned with his wishes.
