Khalid Skah gets my vote. It's despicable what he and his teammate did in the 1992 Olympic 10,000 final. Appropriately booed at the medal ceremony. Chelimo was the true winner.
Semenya has probably faced more vitriol and harassment than any runner of at least the 21st century.
Phrasing it like this deceptively flips what was really an unethical individual with a male body making a joke of the the international women's 800 scene for a full decade. Many bad people "face vitriol and harassment", but what a manipulative way to phrase it.
Caster Semenya is born with external female genitalia and was assigned as a female at birth. Her intersex condition was only diagnosed after she won her first world championship title.
Calling her an "unethical individual" is absolutely disgusting. She is not a drug cheat. She did not fake her identity. Why so much hate?
I have some serious issues with her times but I’ve never heard of anyone hating Flo Jo.
You have been on LRC since 2011. How have you avoided all the posts that hate Flo Jo. Blatant doper, probably had more testosterone than every incel on this site combined. She took so many steroids it killed her.
Khalid Skah: quintessential long distance running track douche. The undisputed king, the big kahuna.
Josephat Machuka: Anyone who punches a guy on the back for just passing him is definitely a douche. But this guy was a world class runner, hence world class douche.
Honorable mention: Al Salazar (the way he treated Dick Beardsley before and during the 1982 Boston Marathon speaks volumes of Albertico) Arrogant and a hypocrite. As a coach, his arrogance flourished! Well done Alberto, you didn't disappoint me.
Also voting for all those African cheats. That Edward Cheserick guy claimed to be in High School and was like 22. All those Africans on the Alabama and NM teams, who have fake ages, no High School transcripts, and who take college slots fron legal American citizens. Do any of them go to class, take finals, get a legitimate degree?
