The point is winning in a global championship while front running, which again, is very rare. Jakob’s goal is to win like this because of how rare it is. Not sure what you are arguing here.
Agreed. But he said different things whether you blame it on his English or not. He said it isn’t tried (it has been in every global champs since 2016) and hasn’t been done successfully (it was in 2019). Which is why Tim tweeted it.

2X Olympic Gold, 2X WC Gold
Outdoor WRs: 2000, 3000, 2 mile
Indoor WRs: 1500, mile
no worries
when Jacob breaks the world record in 5k, the first thing that will come out of the mouth of the 1% loud incel minority, he's peaked and has no kick. etc.
Wayne Gretzky had to leave his home town due no absolute massive hate, when he scored a couple hundred goals, playing against much older boys. the hate was from parents, where Gretzky was somehow putting them down, taking potential food off their plate with success.

I agree in what you are saying here in this thread. And I too was a little puzzled by Jakob seemingly forgetting Cheruiyot’s successfully front running in 2019.
But I neither think the problem is Jakob’s English…
So here’s my theory: Jakob sometimes gets so eager to present huge thoughts or visions that he forget to present context, rightly. Or he just has some nuances that he for some reasons skips to express. Example: What he may want to say here is that he wants to be the first that front runs a championship and wins in a stellar time. (Maybe 3.27 flat/3.26 high).
I know my theory is a stretch. But in a interview with the Norwegian NRK today Jakob says that he in theory will do what nobody has done -winning in the most difficult way. (I think his wording “in theory” is somewhat strange, but may give meaning to my theory). Here is a google translate of the interview:

I also really like to win. That is primarily why we are here. To compete for medals and run in a race. LIGHT SHARE: The light hare is now coming to the international championship. It doesn't seem like he has any intention of changing that. – In most cases, I want to solve the races as best I can, to come out as good as possible. But then again, there's something fascinating about doing it in the most difficult way possible, which exists, and which in theory no one has succeeded in. There's something interesting about that, Ingebrigtsen tells NRK.
Jakob Asserson Ingebrigtsen (24) har ikke bestemt seg for om han skal løpe friidretts-VM. To dager senere må han møte i rettssaken mot Gjert Ingebrigtsen.
I'd like to see him front run to gold in the 5k oh wait he'll never do that because he can successfully sit and kick in that distance.
Let's be real if he could win 1500 gold in a tactical race he would. His choice of race plan is a consequence of his deficiencies not some desire to win gold in the rarest most difficult way possible.

I can just as easily flip it and say that he refuses to front run the 5000m because it would be easier for himself to win through strength alone. By sitting back, he makes it harder for himself to move through the pack.
He races the 1500m the way he does because it is the “Formula One” of athletics as he put it. Winning through front running is the equivalent of winning an 100m title to him, it is that special.

His best chance to win is to have a countrymen front run a fast pace—the El G Strategy. Second best chance is to have someone else lead a fast pace—the HockKerr Strategy. Third best chance is to front run a fast pace himself—the London Rudisha Approach.
The worst approach for Jakob is to sit and kick. He would be giving up his biggest advantage—being faster than everyone. A sit and kick race brings in randomness and you get guy like Beamish and Centrowitz winning gold medals.

Hocker, Kerr, Nuguse and Wightman are asking, how is that working out? Their goals appear to be more modest than attempting to define human limits. Beating Ingebrigtsen can be enough.
For Ingebrigtsen to become the greatest distance runner in history is more realistic than for Kerr to become the best Miler of his generation.
Ingebrigtsen has to pass Bekele, Gebrselassie and Kipchoge, no easy feat, that's for sure. But looking at his results he has achieved up to age 23, and with his great success in the 1500m which seperates him from those others, he has a realistic chance. For sure he needs to add 10000m success at the highest level which might be very difficult - we just have to wait what he can do.
For Kerr to become the greatest Miler of his generation is unrealistic when the other - younger - guys are improving constantly and when he (almost) doesn't race at all.
Ingebrigtsen will not be the greatest runner in history. He will certainly not determine the limits of human achievement for generations to come - Christ, what an ego. There are feats others have achieved he will never make. He will also continue to be beaten in his main event.
I’ll leave it be, but Yared Nuguse frontran USAs and the Olympic Semis last year. Tim frontran the Comm Games 1500, Kipsang in Budapest before Jakob took over. There are multiple athletes willing to have the lead in DLs after the pacers drop.
Generalizing this is strange. After Centro, a natural frontrunner has been prominent in every season and championship. That is 8 straight years. It would be MORE unique to not have a honest, fast championship with nobody keeping it honest at this point.

It's so rare that he has failed to achieve it. Cheruiyot meanwhile has - not to mention Bayi in even more spectacular fashion over 50 years ago. But not the Norwegian blowhard. He seems to think if he hasn't done it then no one has - and so do his fans.

Hasn't won a global championship in his main event in nearly 4 years. Several other runners have worked out how to beat him. Yep - defining the limits of human achievement is certainly working out for Jakob. More like defining the limits of his own achievement.

Has he broken the 5k record? I must have missed it.

Umm no. Ingebrigtsen’s main event is the 5K where he is the 3X reigning global outdoor champion and undefeated in his senior career. The 1500 is a just a fun way for him to compete at an off distance.

You won't be around when his career is over so you won't know.
Your epitaph will read: "Thinking of Jakob until his last breath."
