re mileage 101
guys run different mileage each year, and at different times
from age 15 to 33 you have all sorts of variation
Coe hit 100 miles a week for a couple of weeks in two a day runs, 70 miles routinely for a month, did not count warm up and warm down, nor sprint intervals. this is in build up phase.
and the total high quality that guy did, would probably be amongst the highest ever done.
in fact he went over the max. as has to happen when you push the envelop.
i mean, Peter Coe training was next level and there wasn't really a well known barometer.
and when you are in Italy in the winter, off the grid, with nothing to do, it is pretty hard not do get some mileage in with 2 per day workouts. starting at 5am.
when Coe did hit seventy plus miles per week, that is equivalent to much more than 100 miles a week for other people if you factor in the quality.
there are pages of testimonials from people that trained with coe, and coe himself on this.
again, when people read coe ran 50 miles a week in a single article, that probably be true, but in as much as i had pizza for dinner, and assume that all i eat is pizza.
this is not rocket science.
