Why so vitriolic? Claiming I am anti-merit is certainly off topic. You have offered no proof. Your argument is that there must be discrimination because there weren't as many Asians admitted as you wanted and list specific % of racial admissions that you claim schools have to have in order to not be guilty of discrimination. THAT is racial discrimination.
You're just illiterate. Colleges said they needed affirmative action to get a "diverse class": i.e. to achieve their desired quotas. Yet when affirmative action was banned the classes' demographics barely changed.
You are literally complaining about an admissions class not achieving YOUR desired quotas and saying it must be discrimination for not doing so.

Nothing about quotas at all. It's just a fact that without affirmative action top colleges would be >90% Asian/white instead of barely 70%.
Are the Oklahoma State, Alabama, and New Mexico cross country teams an example of DEI?
ALL Athletes are there because of MERIT, The School either gave tham a Scholarship to come, or they had to Prove they should be on the Team by Earning a Spot, Unlike most Students the Athletes are there because The Schools want them there.

That's literally a quota (and also not a "fact").
New York City has the largest black population in the country. There are at least 1.5x as many blacks as Asians and these are the demographics in the top public high school:
AI Overview
Stuyvesant High School in New York City is a highly competitive public school with a diverse student body
. Student demographics Race: 71% Asian, 17% White, 4% Hispanic or Latinx, 2% Black, <1% Native American or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander

And that is why the democrats are trying to break up the specialized HS in NYC. They absolutely cannot stand the idea that blacks can't get in. They gave up upon equality where black kids can learn and compete. They now just want to force in black faces regardless of merit and fairness.
Completely wrong. It is just a fact. If affirmative action didn't exist top colleges would be about 90% Asian and white.
Repeating your opinion doesn't magically turn it into a fact.
As a whole, blacks and Hispanics tend to be less qualified. Look at test score data. Yet colleges have filled their classes to be about 30% (combined). Obviously it’s not due to merit.

Over the years the NYC DOE has added more "specialized" high schools and other college prep schools in "minority" neighborhoods. While these schools have attracted many bright black and Latino students they've also indirectly led to fewer Black and Latinos getting accepted into schools such as Stuyvesant.
Asian students from all over the city don't choose to attend these boutique schools, they want to go to Stuyvesant and prepare for the test.

Obviously not because the subject of this thread is telling you otherwise. Affirmative action has been ruled unconstitutional, it doesn't exist anymore.
Colleges are allowed to base their admissions on interview performance, hardship factors, extracurriculars, personal statements, and can even take family history at the college into account (wow 🤯)

Wait you mean there are other aspects of merit besides just an SAT score?!?!

Hopefully the city will not lower the standards.
Isn’t it also compounded by the fact that the truly outstanding black / Hispanic students (in testing or in extracurricular) often receive $ to attend the elite $60-70k a year schools? So they’re losing out on talent as well. I knew a couple 1550+ SAT (so completely qualified) “under”represented minorities (all from wealthy families) at my college and they tended to be either Hispanics who looked white or African / Caribbean (descent)
Have affirmative action be class instead of race driven. It’ll still benefit underrepresented minorities more but in a way I’m fine with since it also recognizes the talent of poor Asians / white
There is a narrative out there that Asians have the same advantages as whites, although it varies a lot by country. Cambodians aren’t as wealthy on average as the Chinese, for instance.
But then if you want to create a graduate who represents your school well, do you want an Asian who tends to lack personality and the ability to work a room?

You’re talking about a handful.
Stuyvesant has about 3200 kids. about 2200 are Asian. About 50-75 are black.
You can do all the mental gymnastics you want, but the reality is Asians dramatically outperform blacks academically. That’s why DEI advocates have to stack the deck for the latter while pretending the former doesn’t exist.
