Jakob obliterates it, no sweat. C'mon he is a level above Yared and Kessler. That is just the fact.
Yared in indoors not peaked? Yes. But the gap clearly shrinks considerably when Yared is at his best like we saw in Pre 2023, and in Paris 2024. Of course I expect Jakob to still win if we airdropped Yared in there today, but he goes under 3:46 too in my estimation.
And Jakob fully peaked? He was alone for a 1/3 of the race. Jakob would have run 3:43 at Millrose.
Perfect splits are what happen when you can just follow the lights.
yup. basically 14-14.2 every 100. once the pacer left, he he dipped a hair under 14 and then like 13.8, 13.5, 15.5 for the last 109. He actually slowed up a hair in the end I think.
Yeah, he lost more than half a second to Nuguse last 109 meters. Nuguse split 3:31.75 at 1500 m.
Yes, a level above. If Nguse had tried to run the race that Jakob did in Paris he would have finished like 8th.
So Jakob is physically a level above, but mentally several levels below.
Jakob is stubborn and it does not always serve him well in the championship finals. I think this year he pulls off the win from the front and he breaks the 1500 wr in a race like Monaco. Can Jakob lose to Yared on occasion, sure, it can happen, but is Jakob a level above, yes, he is.
I pulled up the livestream just in time for the mile. After 100m my boss called me to his desk across the office and just wasted 10 minutes of my time rediscussing something we've already talked about. Now I see the result! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH
Honestly a rookie move not going to the bathroom or to lunch

Hmm, I think the double whammy advantages of being raced all the way to the line plus the Armory's allegedly super bouncy track make me think Nuguse ran as fast as he is capable of at the moment. I reckon an airdropped fresh Nuguse actually runs slower than he did at Millrose.
So Jakob is physically a level above, but mentally several levels below.
I don't think that is the right way to frame it.
Jakob thinks he should be able to run these guys off his heels, so he hammered the first 1400m of the Olympic 1500m. They were able to sit and kick. The three guys who beat him definitely earned it.
Jakob was wrong about what strategy would actually work in Paris (he lost) but that isn't because he is stupid. It had to do with "rolling the dice" and coming up short. Nine times out of ten that works (run at Olympic Record pace and hope people start to blow up). That is not a stupid plan if you are in 3:26 shape (which he was).
So Jakob is physically a level above, but mentally several levels below.
Oh? How many medals have Nuguse won? I'll bet Jakob needs his help with competition mentality.
But Nuguse is not a level above his competitors, now is he. The claim is that Ingebrigtsen is a level above. And yet, he has lost the last three 1500 championships. He won in Tokyo when the tactic fit his race plan. When it didn't, he lost.
Physically he is supremely talented, no doubt. Mentally, he is challenged.
