im a farmer. in actual reality i make pennies per an hour for my work. i have to plan my business months if not years in advance. i was approved for a grant that was to be rewarded starting in the spring 2025-2027 and have already made changes and investments to adjust to these changes. if this progam gets axed because biden attached climate language to the grant i will never forgive the republicans. screw the current low IQ administration who thinks environmental responsibility is a culture war revenge issue rather than how basic polluted water and air costs me huge amounts of money. i dont understand why the republicans politicians hate american farmers and why when useless BS like AI can get 500 billion dollars, someone who makes food keeps getting f'ed over.

I think freezing foreign aid is a bigger gift to China long term, as I suppose it will be a huge boon for Road and Rail, to wean other countries away from depending on or trusting the US.
But stopping research will also be a significant boon to China mid-term, I would guess.

the supposed 2 million federal employee buyouts are also unauthorized by congress and unfunded. you don't get to just fire 2 million people and wave your wand with budgeted money to pay them.
why should you need a federal grant to get anything done? If it is worth doing, you should be able to raise the money without a bureaucratic decision. Or a pork-slicing congressman.

if we're talking birthright, the supreme court already heard the same argument 120-something years ago. it's not a "liberal court" decision, it's law from the top court.
likewise, basic civics say the president can't just unilaterally shift money around to offer 2 million people a buyout using money congress said is for something else.
likewise, basic civics say the president can't pause congressional funding and then defund things he doesn't like.
congress voted on and budgeted for all these block grants. you don't get to say, wait, no.

Congress already approved that money per its Constitutional duty. A court may shoot this down, but jeopardizing things like student loan disbursements, day care for poor working parents, reduced school lunches, heating assistance, etc. is just cruel. By all means, conduct a review and then create legislative priorities for your next budget. Cutting off money on the spur of the moment is just evil and will hurt the very people in red states that put you in office.

Uh. Lots of us didn’t like that. You ever consider that since so many of us think, “the Democrats are mostly bad, but Trump is even worse,” then “why do you love the Democrats so much” isn’t actually a reasonable argument?
Lots of federal grants go to poor MAGA areas. There was a news story recently about a poor school district in SE Kentucky, 83% voter for Trump. They were discussing plans to get rid of the Dept of Education, federal grants, etc. The school board president was just in shock and thought Trump was just going to hurt other people, not them.....
When you reduce or remove government spending poor people feel it the worst. Hope they are proud of their vote.

This is exactly the point of using the phrase "dumb and unconstitutional." This is legal layup stuff for any educated person with a brain, and the judges are following easy law.
