You know what's hurting US sprinting? Seeing the baton f'ing fall to the ground over and over and over and over.
Originally because of an incorrect article written by Pulse Sports, the title said Fred Kerley was talking specifically about Quincy Wilson. Our Jonathan Gault has listened to the podcast and says he never referenced him. He was talking about HSers in general.
As a result we have changed the title of the thread.
You know what's hurting US sprinting? Seeing the baton f'ing fall to the ground over and over and over and over.
So what are you expecting kid to do then, keep showing up to sandbag races where there's no competition? A young kid against pros should be pressuring. that's just what he wants and needs to be exposed to in order to realize the next level of his ability. Quincy is less scared and more confident each time he races. how you think Noah Lyles got so loud, now he lives in FK's head rent free.
Willson literally gets invited and appointed to these races and teams. Nobody is emailing race organizers on his behalf to let him in. The organizers and fans want to see prodigy vs pro. How is that bad for sport? If you're so worried about job security just hang it up buddy.
Otherwise let's see that Kerley vs Wilson 400
Fred Kerley a mf loser

What's hurting the sport more? HS kids or Fred Kerley's stupidity?
There is nothing stupid about what Fred said. I think Fred is correct, and he is being realistic.
@newaccountsinceyourwebsitesucks I'm kind of neutral about this since I don't know much about sprinting, but what I do want to say is that I agree with your name.
Is the Quincy Wilson trajectory similar to Erriyon Knighton, and did it benefit or detract from Knighton's development to compete with adults? I agree with Kerley to the extent that it may not be in the best interests of high school athletes to jump to the pros. The problem is no one can know how it will go for any one athlete. Our sport and others are littered with young athletes who couldn't make the transition to the pros and likely would have benefitted from a typical progression that includes attending and competing in college.
tf he supposed to do? wrote:

You know what else would hurt our sport?
Does it hurt the sport or hurt his ego?
