No, we cannot agree to that. There is no comparison, no similarities between these two candidates. One is a towering liar, criminal, misogynist, racist, con man with failure after business failure and felony convictions, and the other an xperienced prosecutor and VP with a clean record, who appreciates and supports democracy and h Constitution but who lacks some likeability and charisma for some people, race and gender play a big part in that. That business of equating the two is a weak ploy to make Trump out as a normal person. He is not. She is.

Yes!! Our candidate is a saint and trump is the devil!! We just need to elect her and then we can make sure there is never a Republican President ever again.
You really are clueless, you didn't even answer. What power do you think the VP has?
The constitution states pretty clearly the VP is a tie breaking vote in the Senate and oversees the counting of electoral ballots, and she did both those jobs well.
So, how is she a ghost?
It's crazy how off tangent you became immediately in your response. Typical sign of low intelligence.
They love to be obtuse and dismissive when asked direct questions that Trump himself is always obtuse about. I should copy my post dumping on Trump on this thread just to give about 15 reasons why he's a horrible candidate.
Yes. A cursory review of questions posed to Trump supporters will show a uniform response of unresponsiveness. Instead you get questions about the other candidate, allusions to past candidates, whatsbouts related to isolated minor incidents, party slogans and insults, patently false claims--but no responses detailing positive character traits, mention of personal accomplishments, or desireable personal traits. They duck and cover whenever asked to detail the characteristics they admire or respect, beyond "He's different, not a typical polition, a renegade, a businessman (!)." They either know hes an unstable and poorly equipped mentally and emotionaly old man unfit for office but support him in the interest of the Republican Party (pax vobiscum!) or theyre well aware of his deep faults but keep "fakin it" hoping eventually to "make it."

Exaggeration is weak argumentation: I didnt suggest Harris is a saint at all. I said in fact she: "lacks some likeability and charisma..." My point is that the attempt to equate the characters and histories of the two candidates is false and a way to cover the enormous drawbackd of Trump. Draw attention away from his terrible acts and statements by focusing on minor "warts and blemishes," metaphorically, of Harris. There is no comparison, and any person with a functioning brain knows that!

Nobody said she was a saint. Other than her failed run in 2020, she's got a pretty strong winning record, unlike The Don.
Dems fight any all requirements to require ID before voting. The ONLY reason you would be against this is if you fully intend on cheating.
DOJ sued Virgina when they tried to remove people that has SELF REPORTED as not being citizens.
DOJ expanded Title IX to include men that pretend to be women.
Abortion is now a state issue, and should be fought on that level. However, I would think (but Im no legal scholar) that a case based on equal protection would make for a stronger abortion law that RvW, even RBG agreed with that.
For someone who said he is a "classic liberal", you are misinformed about what "Dems" fight for.
"Voter ID" sounds great in principle, but it is the proposed implementation that has issues that potentially disenfranchise eligible voters: for example, the student turned away at the voting booth, because his ID lists his parents address when he registered, and not his university address when he votes; or the non-driver required to get a state drivers license or id, but the nearest DMV is in the next city due to budget cuts; or the voter that has a birth certificate as proof of citizenship, but without a photo or address, etc.
If "Voter ID" were implemented in a way that all these problems can be easily notified and resolved in advance at voter registration time, and eligible supporters get the necessary support they need to understand the new requirements, and logistic support to resolve issues, then voters will not be disenfranchised at voting time, when it is too late.
The problem with Virginia was mainly the timing. If Youngkin had triggered this two years ago, there would be sufficient time to notify voters they were removed from registration, and time to correct any mistakes that disenfranchised eligible voters. But he started this process in August 2024.
Not sure the DOJ has any authority to expand Title IX. It was a law passed by Congress and signed into law by President Richard Nixon. Most recently, it has been interpreted by Federal Courts based on a Supreme Court ruling to protect transgender students from discrimination. Any expansion would have to go through Congress.
Abortion should not be fought on a state level. That satisfies neither pro-life nor pro-choice advocates, and it takes away one of Clinton's words you said was reasonable: "safe", as some women whose pregnancies turned bad are being turned away by scared doctors, to bleed in the parking lot, become sterile, or die. Furthermore, contrary to the rhetoric about state by state decisions, the next steps will still be fought at a national level, as Republicans will fight for a nationwide ban, and nationwide monitoring of pregnancies, and bypassing Congress with alternative "effective" means preventing interstate shipping of approved medication, or stripping the nationwide approval of medication, etc.
What used to be considered Liberal would now be considered Conservative. The Left sprinted far far left, so now many of us "classic Liberals" (pro choice, pro gay marriage, pro legalization of marijuana) are now left behind.
Bill Clinton's very very reasonable statement that abortion should be safe, legal, and rare would have him banned from the Dems. Hillary used to be for a closed bored, insisting that it undermined the gains of American Unionized workers (true).
I was always against the GOP because of it's overtly churchy preachiness. Now that is the Dems. They are the pearl clutchers that are offended at and by EVERYTHING.
Dems now are for men that pretend to be women participating in women's sports, open borders, illegals voting in our elections, set asides based solely upon one's race.
This absolutely strikes a chord with me. So cathartic that someone was able to capture the predicament!
I can remember when the big strategy for ppl like Bill Clinton, was just to be one inch to the left of the Republicans, which of course made it like choosing between Pepsi and Coke. Like, the Dem strategy used to be to parrot the same talking points as the Republicans, with only some small nods to being a little better for women and a little better for the have-nots while trying desperately to win the “center”.
Then, it swung the WAY other way, and didn’t even pause on the way to Full Crazy.

someone's been watching Fox News a leeeetle bit too much.
name a few far left policies of the biden admin. Go ahead, name them.
Not a policy of some school district. Not of some backbencher or media person. Of the Biden WH.

So Trump decided to mime stroking and sucking a microphone holder like a dlck. Initially i just saw the short clip and thought he was trying to mock Harris but from the whole video apparently not he just felt like doing it. Interesting choice for closing argument. It shows the power of right wing state media that this guy who should be polling at like 15% has any chance to win. Thanks Rupe!
The political climate has become so polarized. However, we ought to be able to find some common ground on this one simple contention:
Both Harris and Trump are terrible candidates of the lowest caliber.
Setting aside any comparison of one to the other, surely we can agree; no?
There’s a lot to not like about Trump. But it’s indisputable that he represents a far more sane foreign policy. Like it or not, Trump-Vance is the peace ticket
It is, but if you are only in the 10% silo you are probably equally hypnotized as the liberals.
I've been diving into podcasts about the French Revolution and it greatly helps my overall perspective. These times are in ugly, but not without precedent.
There have been events in human history when literally most humans in large geographic areas perished. I'm not sure something being "not without precedent" is comforting.
I don't look for comfort, but for grounding in reality. Similar to how I approach running and personal health and despite massive setbacks, I am still achieving my goals after 52 years in it.
Although I included myself among the posters who refused to agree with your statement, I feel obliged to point out that Pulitzer Prize winning columnist George Will, a man whose opinion I respect, does in fact agree with you:
Of this mercifully truncated presidential campaign we may say what Samuel Johnson said of Milton’s “Paradise Lost”: No one ever wished it longer. Why prolong this incineration of the nation’s

You probably don't believe what you just wrote, but just in case you do, I will merely point out that Neville Chamberlin thought he was a peacemaker. In point of fact he was merely an enabler and a coward. By "pease" you mean acquiescing to the forces of fascism at large, including Putin, Netanyahu, and the Saudi regime. Personally, I believe we should stand up to them, just as we were right to stand up to Hitler.

I am sure Thomas Crooks would appreciate this sentiment.
