Kipchoge is a filthy coward. Retired like a wimp and obviously trying to escape further scrutiny and avoid risking further damage to his already increasingly damaged reputation.
He just leaves the sport like that leaving so many confounded and scratching their heads at what exactly transpired with him. His decline was as magical as his incline to stardom!!! The thing that bugs me the most about Kipchoge is the way he was cultivating a 'Buddha' type public persona the last few years. FFS, he's the best ever at running 26 miles pumped full of EPO, or at least until Kiptum came along. I don't understand why he thinks that makes him some kind of wise philosopher.
For the record, I'm not a high performance athlete so there is no incentive for me to dope. Secondly, I also don't dope because I rely only on Mother Nature's unspoiled turmeric, sage, lemongrass, ginger, lemon, Dandelion root and artichoke to strengthen my blood and bones against all adversity!!!!!!! And I give thanks to the Lord after!!!!!!!!!

im of two minds with Kipchoge: I’m sure he was doping to a point. I think, as much as I hate to say it, that to run these types of times in this day and age you have to have “help”. How much and what kind, I don’t know.
but he was the perfect ambassador for Nike and World Athletics. Marathining NEEDED a person that the media could use to spearhead this era of mass marathon participation and Kipchoge was the perfect person for it. There a ton of non-runners that I know who know who he is. The marketing worked. And it only benefits our sport.
how often have we come to this forum over the last 20 years and started “how to make track popular again” threads? WA and Nike had the money and the time to get the first person outside of Bolt, in the last 24 years, to transcend the sport. A he has been a very good figurehead to do so.
do I think Kipchoge and bolt are clean? No, I don’t. But as much as I love all the drug busts we are seeing these days, and as much as I desperately would love to have a clean sport, I don’t want to see them publicly busted. It is a total contradiction, I know, but it would devastate the sport on an elite level. Mind you, your average 4 hour marathoner would never care and probably never know, but still.

I disagree with the last part. If even Bolt and Kipchoge were busted, assuming not Armstrong/whistleblower kind of bust (which forced to authority to take action), then that would be a giant step ahead towards clean sports. At that moment, no dopers would be safe; they would be limited. Though it would never happen, because $ talks.

The very worst people in the world are huge philanthropists so it makes sense that the dude that's a huge doper reads and quotes every corny self help book ever written. People justify their actions any way they can but I'm actually surprised at how well received this thread is. I never thought he was clean or revered him.
