How much hate would you give someone if they told you, with a straight face, that they were going to break the marathon world record? Or any other track record?
You hate all your track team mates that much that ever tried for a school record?
Ambitious goals are great, but when they are completely untethered from reality they are just sad.
A guy my year had the state 1500m record in his sights. He was really good, but not quite good enough. He gets the credit for trying.

You mean like the "ambitious goals" of most posters on LRC thinking that they could become elite runners when they were in high school and college? That's "just sad" and "completely untethered from reality". Not anything different from Nedd except Nedd is succeeding.
What's going on here? Strava data came up for 57.1 miles, 8:52 moving time (quick!), though 11+h moving time. No map data. Now been deleted or hidden...

You are really dumb. Many runners dream and visualise being great one day, but they are not trying to 'seek fame' or scam money by asking people to follow them , support them, donate money while they are pursuing their dream.
You cannot just make an outlandish claim, based on dubious prior achievements and ask for money. Perhaps it seems one can but remember people like Belle Gibson who wrote a book, 'raised money' (scammed) based on breast cancer claims and was convicted of fraud. It is no different and is a blight on our sport.
...on another note. If he is at Sydney Olympic Park, the athletics track next to the Original Olympic Stadium, then the big Rugby League Grand Final tonight is sure going to keep him awake and the yahoos coming out afterwards will certainly be a distraction into the night. There was also 'The Big Knockout Festival' yesterday. Strange time to do this, or maybe part of the glorification he seeks

my theory is that they could only book the track at this time - long weekend, grand final .. there’s often other things happening - they just finished up the school championships last week
I wonder if that’s why they can’t allow people to come and cheer him on at the track until day 6
or if they didn’t want the crowd there for when he pulls the pin

10km up the road there is a backyard Ultra that started 25hrs ago, there are 25 still going. The 6.7km every hour 'should be easy' for Nedd, keep going for 10 days get the 1,000miles and also pocket the $10K male winner's cheque.
Then he can do the Coast to Kosci (top of highest mountain in Aus) in early December and obliterate that record

Great question. Of course you know the answer yourself. People like Nedd want the attention for themselves. If he would do a 6 day race, he would be just one guy of many and he might be even finishing 4th. There is no glory in that.

Ned is a stunt runner not a racer. Competing against others would alert the general public to how mediocre he is and end the hero worship.
Kudos to him for creating a niche and exploiting it but let's not pretend he's an actual athlete.

I’ve had to reconcile myself with that. Otherwise I’m just getting irritable about it.
what’s irritating is the fans on the feed
’hes got this - it’s nedd’ ‘he’s still got 7 days , he’ll be right ‘

just no understanding of what’s going on
His crew is excellent covering up how far back he actually is. With his weird "Master lap" = 12.8k concept and only putting full "Master laps" without any times attached.
Everything is very vague, so his tik tok fans can worship him a little longer.
He finished day two 3.5hrs behind day one. He'll be a further 2.5 to 3hrs behind today. He's not keeping up with himself, let alone Kouros.
LOL Kouros split over 48 hours in his record breaking 6 day race in 2005 was 432.4k This is his 8th best performance. His 9th best is 429k in New York in 1984.
Both performances are better than the 6th other individual in the World rankings.
Nedd Brockmann has now 447k on his tick tok in the second half of day 3.
