Except she just ran well below college level two months after running 15:07 on presumably much less training. Assuming she has had a solid block of training since, a result like this does not make sense fitness-wise. Even struggling at the end of outdoor on 2023 she ran 15:03.
Results don't always come in a straight line. Today is 1 data point.
Looks like she was targetting 14:50 and it didn't work out after 3k. She finished though.
Wait for next result. I've no idea when she races next. Still plenty of B meets in Europe.

Exactly…what elite runner didn’t have some disappointing races along the way? Ingebrigtsen bounced back very recently after a disappointing Olympic 1500 to break the 3K record…
Except that the elite female American distance runners were not teen phenoms. You guys refuse to look at the facts. Tuohy is on the way out. She is on a slow skid. She is losing to people like Andrews. How good was Andrews in college? Look at high school for Hiltz, ESP, Coburn, Frerichs, Valby, Schweizer and pretty much every elite American female. Look at the US Okympic team for 5k, 10k, steeple, and marathon and you will be shocked at how slow some were in high school.

Oh, you poor loser…did KT hurt your feelings by not winning every race she entered? Your posts are pathetic!

Completely agree you don’t improve every time you race. One bad outing doesn’t mean much and I hope she bounces back. Curious though how you infer a goal of 14:50 from 2:59, 2:56, 3:05. Couldn’t you just as easily say 14:40 (second k on pace) or 15:00 (relaxed 3rd k to get back to reasonable pace then fell off)? Impossible to tell what she was going for although I doubt it was 14:50.
Another pathetic entry from joe goes. Every seasoned competitor has had this type of result at some point or another. You clearly don’t know anything and are stuck taking pot shots here.
Maybe more processed chemicals should be sprinkled on the granola, yes?
You guys live in la la land. Not every experiment gives you positive outcomes…this is learning what works on any given day. You can be sure next time will be different…I won’t speculate about exactly how. I can’t recall any elite runner improving in a straight line…the human body doesn’t respond that way. 15:21 isn’t a disaster…on her first outing for NCS she also went out too hot and fell back to finish 24th at Nationals. That was also not considered a disaster but the additional scrutiny at the time from her HS reputation pressured her to push too hard at the outset. This might have been the case here as well. I agree that she was likely going for 14:40’s and her body just didn’t respond to that ambition at this time. We don’t know how well her workouts have been going of late. Adjustments will need to be made.
