This is dumb. Phelps' take here is echoed my many athletes. Just because Craig reposted it, why would that mean it has anything to do with Hocker and Nuguse?
My point is it's just interesting timing, what do you think Craig's point is...?
Either a) he is bitter and resentful and taking it out in a childish way or b) the timing coinciding with the 1500 has nothing to do with it, but he has dabbled in PEDs in the past and is trying to project an air of moral superiority to compensate for his guilt.
Epo can only.be detected by testing the day it is taken. Very small chance of catching them on race day. Missing a test is more concerning because of this fact.
Engels is salty because he is watching people like Hocker and Hobbs (Engels 2.0) do what he could never do. Unfortunately, that's the way it is. Had he made some smarter training decisions, maybe he would be whistling a different tune. Honestly, at only 30 years old, he could prob still do something great if he got his head on straight.
Getting away with doping is just part of a modern athlete's skill set. Same goes with governing body. It's now come out that US authorities were letting athletes get away with it for "strategic purposes". The biggest joke is the assumption the people who run things don't cheat. It's much easier for them to cheat so by definition they will cheat more and harder (see US ignoring all the tests in 88 trials - its USA good luck bombing them or forcing them into war crimes court!)
Apparently this is meant to be strategically going after doping rather than the more obvious - not deliberately hobbling your own athletes strategy. Sounds like state sponsored doping? Russia already gone, maybe US, Kenya and Jamaica next.
You can't be great and not dope. Maybe the odd phenom get's through I grant you. But the idea super talented athletes who are doping, and allowed to do it, are going to get beat by people who ain't is a joke. We know that a lot the top 20 sprinters have got done officially lol. Imagine thinking the guys up there who ain't got caught are all clean.
The Olympics is about winning it's not about being fair and honest. And the Olympics can't drug bust it's very top athletes because it would destroy the sport. Gotta feel bad if you don't cheat though, and BELIEVE IN THE SYSTEM TO BOOT!

The country’s doping strategies are just another part of the competition.

Yes! Bullseye. But if all of us are constantly cheating each other to get the win then the thing we are standing on will fall apart.
The great footballer Thierry Henry once said having hit a ball in the net with his hand that he would do it again. Because his allegiance was to France not the truth. But imagine where this could lead to and how it could escalate. Maybe a few of my prison friends can have a word with Henry's family before the game. You know just to say hello and wish them well. How's Thierry playing in the next game! Would he cry about unfairness? Would he have a leg to stand on? Hahaha maybe not if my mates get hold of him!
(I've got no prison friends by the way, just like the idea that Vinnie Jones types were my mates, like having a big brother who's hard as nails. I guess it's never like the films though)
