The only one I would bet money on is clean in yesterday’s race is Andreas Kramer.
I like Kramer but he either has superhuman healing powers or he needs to chill out. Guy is trying to set a record for most 800s in a season.
Some guys like racing their way into shape. I know Sowinski was this way. You need to build the lactic resistance/pain tolerance somehow, and I think it's much more enjoyable to do that in a race as opposed to 3 x 500 or 5 x 300 all out.
Maybe seeing someone run 1:41 has helped, maybe the weather, adequate rest, and good pacing helped. I'm not ready to hang the "new superPED" banner up until something crazy happens in Paris/Monaco.
I know what the new super PED is, except it's not new, and it's not banned. And I don't want it to be banned, so I'm not gonna say.
Weightlifters commonly use it in their "stack," is the only clue I'll offer.

I think i know of what youre mentioning, but that drug only works in conjunction with other drugs, specifically steroid cocktails,HGH ,EPO. It wouldnt work well on its own. Hence, you mentioned the "stack".
Maybe it's cuz this is the first real Olympic year we've had since 2016 (not counting that covid year BS) and people have been training for years for this very moment
This. Athletes sacrificed their primes by not training seriously in 2021 because it was fake, regardless of what their sponsors said. And bizarrely, this only applied to the men's 800m but not the other events.
It’s called being on performance enhancing drugs, and lots of them. Theyre on cocktails of steroids and EPO ,and it’s very obvious from looking at their arms, legs, shoulders, and back muscles.
I don’t understand why people deny deny deny.
All the muscles around the androgen receptors are big and very defined, muscles that aren’t required to be big for 800m running, their bodies are as lean as bodybuilders that feel physically sick for weeks in order to hit that bodyfat percentage, and they are splitting roughly 49-52 after being relatively non factor runners until this year. They don’t even look gassed at the end.
I know it’s not fun to think they are all cheating but they are all cheating.

Maybe, but just this year?
No not just this year. People are willing to risk it all to bring glory to their country and their country wants glory brought to it. Simple as that.
Food for thought:
The Russian US arms/space/athletics race of the cold war. Russia gets popped for a state sponsored doping program. Do we think the US wasn’t doing that crap? Or are we all team USA over here?
maybe the generation that spent years banging their feet with minimalist/moderate shoes had died and the generation that ran in maximum cushion hoka shoes and vaporflys is finally maturing.
Steve Cram's 1985 WR 1500 is 110th on the all time performance list, while Coe's world record 800 set 4 years earlier is still 10th.
in the 80s there were 12 sub 1:43s and 2 sub 1:42s
in the 90s there were 34 sub 1:43s and 4 sub 1:42s
in the 00s there were 18 sub 1:43s with 0 sub 1:42s
in the 10s there were 42 sub 1:43s, 9 sub 1:42s and 1 sub 1:41 👑🇰🇪
in the 20s so far its 13 sub 1:43s with 4 sub 1:42s
in looking through the top times on the world athletics site, couldn't help but notice lots of the top 800 times happen at or right around the olympics
