Josh would have won in around 1:45 flat which would be epic for a 2 mile indoor WR holder, and would have been a PB too. He was clearly closing the gap on everyone just before the accident. If I was Jakob I would be sitting on my toilet seat right now taking a massive dump. With Josh's 800m speed combined with his 2 miles endurance, the gold will be his in Paris in the 1500m

Did Giles see Kerr on the Jumbotron and try to slam the door?
He was gonna get passed by everyone, he made his move way too early and way too hard. He was flailing by the end. Not sure on the rules about who would be DQ'd in that situation, but the field was all passing Giles and Kerr was just starting to make his move.
Good analysis. Because it succeeds a few times doesn't make it right. They are throwing a 'hail mary'. My HS and Univ coach is in the Hall of Fame, Berny Wagner. He taught two important principles: 1) Always finish a race unless you are injured, because if you don't it becomes easier to quit in the future. 2) Always defend your lane. The width of the lane is designed for one runner. It is your lane. If they make contact, they are at fault.
Giles runs on the outside of lane 1. Kerr spots ample space to pass along the rail. Kerr accelerates in a straight line. Giles slides to his left, impeding Kerr. DQ for Giles. Fair play to Kerr.
Kerr is 25 percent at fault and Giles 75. Kerr had poor race strategy and he set up the finish poorly and decided to go from the inside more than 100 meters out. Giles was being passed from the inside, so he had no right to shove Kerr out of the way. Where's he shoving him to always? Inside the track? Back behind him? Giles chose the outer part of lane 1, so of course he should have expected someone trying to pass him from the inside.
I'm not gonna lie I was holding back mentioning Giles is black and tried to Trip Kerr because he is both white and a star (Giles has never made an Olympic or WC final). Because that would be an assumption, which is what you are doing.
1500 is a basically a lock for him in Paris and he does this.
Before Kerr made his move, Giles' left foot was about 20" from lane 2, and with at least 12" for shoulders/arms, that would leave about 16" for Kerr to slip in. I know I'm in the minority in here, but imho, it's clearly Kerr's fault. Gammoudi was seemingly tiny in comparison and had no problems moving Billy Mills aside. If you're gonna pass on the inside, pass with authority.
