Natosha Rogers calls out Nike runners from 2012

Nope. She had never run a 10,000 and had a fresh PR of 15:45 in the 5,000 just before that race. She would have had no expectation to be able to run fast at Payton Jordan. She debuted in the 10,000 a couple weeks after Payton Jordan in 34:18 at her conference meet. Granted she won, but that's a time slower than last at Payton Jordan. A couple weeks after than, she Pr'd at regionals in 33:47, a time that would have been second to last at Payton Jordan. She was 16 seconds behind Aliphine at regionals, so she was maxed for that race too. She had a fast improvement curve, but clearly was not ready to run a qualifier at Payton Jordan. Could she have even been invited/let into the race? Maybe not.

I ask seriously, do you think people really watch with emphasis on “up/down votes?

professional athletes will take drugs to gain an advantage but not use team tactics to intentionally win a race? boy you sure are smart.

Nope, it's a video of her male friend talking about letrun posters, saying they are living in their mom's basements and masturbating all day. I'm not exaggerating at all. (In fact, the guy used much more colorful language and gestures than I did)

I want to find it but Katelyn Tuohy was 2nd at NCAAs in both the 3K and 5K and she described that the race was like a "fartlek". Katelyn didn't have the tools to run a race with that much pace changing and came up short. She described the experience as a learning experience for her. She didn't whine about pace changing and getting blocked in so many times. She showed up in outdoor and won the 5K.

I think it's fine for Natosha to be pissed at Shalane, but she knew the rules before the trials began. Those who had the A standard-it's in their best interest to have a slower race, so of course they would attempt to slow the race down. It's like if you're up in a soccer game with a few minutes left and play keepaway to run down the clock.

Also, Natosha is spending a lot of time harping on "sportsmanship". Sportsmanship is nice, but it's not a set rule that you have to be sportsmanly. Of course you can't push someone off the track or anything, but Shalane was following the rules. She doesn't owe anyone politeness.

I think bad sportsmanship is putting on blast the 4th and 7th place runners attempting to diminish their accomplishment by acting like she was wronged.

She's digging her grave even further with her Instagram story. I try to avoid posting negative things about pros on here because they are people too and ppl tend to just say whatever they want as a keyboard warrior.... but seriously- grow up, Natosha. You're giving mean girl vibes. Social media and your sponsor give you a platform and you ridicule your followers who are rightfully criticizing your cry baby, victim-mentality post? I always thought you were gritty although tried too hard to be "edgy," but crap like this makes me officially not a fan. You got beat, fair and square. Take ownership. Grow from it and do better. Don't live in the past 12 years ago and blame others for falling short. We all do sometimes and that's part of being human. Have some humility. A 15:45 pr suggests she'd have been fine in the Payton Jordan race with 33:xx people in the field. Would she have qualified? Probably not, but not because she wasn't good enough--she just peaked later.

Do you acknowledge the absurdity of you saying that she could have gotten the qualifying time at Payton Jordan? Sure, she was good enough later in the year, but not in April 2012. From where she was in April 2012 and knowing that no one can see into the future, she did all the right things and outperformed expectations.

Those who suggested that she should have pushed the pace at 2012 Trials as saying that she should have tried to run a 57-second PR (after already making numerous big jumps in the past month) from the front in that race. That's absurd. She did great and was second best runner in the race. It's too bad she didn't qualify for the Olympics, but it's not her fault either.

The truth hurts. Blaming on tactics that happened 12 years ago is not what she needs few days before the trials.

In that case, it’s only right that we add in Valby: I hope Parker Valby crushes Natosha Rogers at the trials. It would be perfect if Rogers just barely misses out by finishing 4th, and Valby qualifies by pushing the pace to finish top 3 while getting the Olympic standard time, thereby showing Rogers what she should have done in the same situation 12 years ago.
