Quite reassuring the info on here.
I taught a boy a few years ago, and he joined the school athletics club I run in the summer. I saw him and his mum when collecting her daughter, and found out he ran 2:20 in July at the age of 12, ranking him 2nd in the London & Herts area. Not that I am responsible for his talent, but made him enthusiastic about the sport and his talent. He's very self motivated and driven. Hopefully he'll break 2 mins one day.

I also ran 2:13. We had a kid run 2:04 before the season started, but he quit when the high school kids were making fun of him for running tho opposite way on the track because he had shin splints. He never competed again.
Wow. Were his shins so bad that you could see the bones sticking out, because that's some pretty thin skin.
At age 14 Steve Ovett ran 2:00.0 for 800m, 51.6 for 400m and jumped 20'06" for the long jump.
3 years later he ran 1:47.3 for 800m, 47.6 for 400m and an unbelievable 4:00.0 mile. He thinks the time he was given for the mile was unjust because many had timed him running under 4min.
At age 15 Seb Coe ran 1:56.0 for 800m, 51.8 for 400m, 3:58.0 for 1500m and 8:40.2 for 3000m
I am 14 years old and this is my first year running track. I ran 1:59 in the 800, tired. In this event anytime from 1:50 to 2:00 is great for a 14 year old
14 - 2:37
18 - 2:05
21 - 1:52
I'm 14 right now and I run a 2:06. as a 13 year old I ran a 2:22. my coach thinks I can run 2:02 this year, but I really want to break 2 as a freshman
14 - 2:11
15 - 2:00.02
16 - 1:59.65
I was not ranked, I was freshman in highschool at age 14.
I'm 16 now, and I'm 1:59.65

hey please if u can anser these questions cheers
what was ur time as a 14 year old for 800m?
what were u ranked or came at nationals or states and for what country or state?
what is your time now and how old are you?
mine is 2-05.. is this good?
14 - 2:08
USA - undefeated during season (#1), and league champion (no middle school regionals or state championships).
Now - 1:54.8
Yes, your time is good. I came into a system that had great individuals as coaches, but they really didn't know much about how to train middle-distance runners (nor did I obviously). Anyway, I only averaged about 28-30 miles a week in HS, and messed around with the 400 (50.4), 1600 (4:17.x), 3200 (9:28.x)... with 50s 400 speed, I'm sure I could have done much better in the 800 meters. If you're running 2:05, get yourself a good education, and work with your coach to maximize your potential. Best wishes!
When I was 13, I ran the 800m in 2:38, second fastest in my year. I have been injured with patellar tendonitis for 3 months and only managed 2:50 on my first run back. Am now 14.
14 now, 2:13, nationals yet to come (Ireland), 2:05 is excellent for a 14 year old. Same PB as the national champion for Ireland schools.
Your 2:05 is very good. You will be up against the outlier 14 year old early developers with a full beard who are sub 2 but you will catch up to them in a few years.
The 800m is a very unique event. I coached a 14 year old to run 2:09 and this season as a 17 year old her ran 1:53. His progression has been steady but his 400m pr would probably only be in the 52's.
At 18 he should run 1:51 but we'll see.
2:12 in training shoes on a cinder track (it was about 1973).
I figure that's worth a sub 2:10 under modern conditions.
I’m 14 and did my 800 today and got a very bad time of 4:59 (walked) , the fastest at my school is just under 2 and faster people tend to come anywhere between 2-3 mins
in 8th grade we all had to run 800m as an endurance run and the fastest kids "jogged" it in 3:45-3:59!!!
the slower ones like me took 4:30ish
and some over 5:00
I'm Romanian and we were 15 years old by the time we graduated middle school
It's mindblowing how slow me and my other 29 classmates were considering some of them actually played lots of soccer or basketball competitively yet no one even got close to a 3:00 in the 800m...........
Most of my classmates were exhausted after this "endurance run" even the fastest kids ?

Yes that's very good for a girl.
Hey what sort of training did you do to get that time down that quickly. I am a 14 yo female currently running 2:45 or 800m. Last year I was running 2:57. I would love to get it down even more for next year so what was your training to go from 2:45 to 2:13?
I, as a 14 year old male, has not tested it in a while but in the middle of XC season, I tested an 800m and I got 2:21 in practice by myself. I rise to the competition so my 800m time is not accurate, and I did not have that adrenaline boost like in an actual race. It will be accurate in three months when we have our first track meet.
