This message board has unleashed an insane amount of hate on both these women, but this might be the most unhinged post I've see.
Tuohy is trying to build up a bigger brand and partnered with a fitness influencer's company. Is her brand's owner suspect, potentially, but it's a stretch to translate that to say she's cycling on some high end drugs while recovering from injury. Maybe wait until she comes back and immediately drops an american record to make these accusations and just call her a sell out for now, but all she's ever done is run well, have a few unfortunately timed injuries and failures to perform perfectly and be nice to people in public.
Valby is looking to get paid before she ever tests herself against top tiered american runners. Take the risk out of making that next step completely. For her sake, I hope she gets paid. Everyone is obsessed with her unconventional training that has made her an aerobic monster. She'll need to continue to adapt this training as she becomes a pro and faces a next level of competition. Making that next jump in time will be harder. Valby faces a ton of hate too, but like Tuohy has just had a few injuries, run well, and be nice to people in public.
Any hate towards these women is unreasonable, unnecessary and immature. I would like to see the same positive attention given to other top NCAA runners like Michaela Rose, Juliet Whitaker, and Roisin Willis. All three are much closer to competing at a diamond league level than either Tuohy or Valby.
