And since winning that one and only 1500m gold, he’s gone 0 for 3. So his advancing age hasn’t led to more gold. If anything, it shows that his one gold in that event was a fluke that came about from having another runner essentially serve as his pacer. Without such help, he has failed to win three times in a row. So it turns out you are the one who is unbelievably stupid for thinking he can get even close to El G’s 7 1500m golds just because of his age.
Advancing age? He is and will be 23 this entire season.
0 for 3? If you ignore his 2 5k WC titles. And every other race the past 3 years.
How old was EL G when he finally won an OG gold?
List EL G's "7 in a row". He lost 1996 and 2000 OG 1500's. Not counting those in the 7 in a row?
I never said 7 in a row. Learn to read.
Obviously my commentary has been about the 1500. Jakob is 1-4 in his career in 1500 global championship races, and El G is 7-3. In case it’s not obvious enough, 7-3 is better than 1-4. Is that too difficult for you to understand?
Let's put it this way, if he loses at pre, letsrunners will care about it more than he will.
I’m honestly shocked that so few downvotes to this one… with me being only the fourth downvote. What I’m surprised at is that so many posters here honestly think that Jakob wouldn’t care that much if he lost. Yes, while he may be slightly autistic, he clearly has an enormous ego and is very sensitive to what people say about him. Why do you think he makes these questionable excuses every time he loses.
I have a hard time understanding why Jakob hasnt raced before Pre, if he really cares about winning the race. It is unlikely that he will be able to run really fast in his first race for the season. And with such a strong field, he might actually lose if he isnt in race shape.
Is he simply viewing it as a ”warm up” race before Oslo?
No. He only cares about Gold. idiots cares about Pre

But but but.....when the bad Scottish man does that it's completely different and he's afraid and a barbarian.....right? that's what we said, right guys?
If he wins, it means that he did care about the race and that this race is the most important race in the world.
If he loses, it means that he was letting the other guys win so they didn't cry, he was sick, he was injured, he was blindfolded, he was trash talking, he was jet lagged, he was fighting with his father, fighting with his mother, fighting with his wife, etc.
You captured the thinking of these guys perfectly, but the downvotes show how much they like/don't like their ridiculous fanboying reflected at them.

He mentioned that his primary goal is "to see how fast I can run and to try to win as much as possible as often as I can, when I can." He knows he can't win them all, and Pre might be one race that slips through his fingers (and it seems to be the board intimating this, not Jakob). But win or lose, we should acknowledge that Pre is just a stepping stone to Rome in two weeks, another crucial test before the ultimate goal of Paris this summer.

You are including indoors and excluding 5ks.
That's cherry picking.
Know what that is?
Why would I include 5k if I’m comparing them as 1500 runners? This thread is about a 1500 race, and the guy I initially responded to was talking about the 1500.
Yes, indoor counts because they both raced the 1500 indoors. Again, this is about the 1500, not 5k, steeple, or anything else.

When did you add the part about we are comparing them as 1500 runners?

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses, but I don't really care who wins Pre. What matters is who wins in Paris. I don't know how much training he lost or if he is 100% recovered from his injury, but I'm not betting against him.
