Well, to be fair, Rupp actually ran 12:58. Even still, Kennedy ran this 27 years ago.

Dathan Ritzenhein's epic 12:56 16 years ago in Zurich was the most exciting 5k AR of them all. Ritz started out DFL, was not even visible until 2 laps to go, moving up to 3rd, then to 2nd with 300m to go!
No 5000m AR comes close to this one!

Oh sheet, I forgot to post the video. Ritz started out DFL. Wasn't even in the picture until 2 laps to go, but still at least 60m behind. Moved into 3nd, then to 2nd with 300m to go, and giving back 2nd with only 80m to go. This was the most exciting 5k AR ever!30

It is difficult to get all that excited about Ritz's 12:56 just because he was not even shown for much of the race.

It was exciting because American men weren't very competitive then and all of a sudden (insert Dathan in scene) we had something to cheer about.

My bad, rojo's almost correct. Tilastopaja only goes to 1997. It's Brinkster that goes all the way back to 1891.
