12:55 is the old 13:08. Lets sit back and see how many podium
finishes there are by Americans over the next few Olympic and World Championships.
Tilastapaja's database only goes back to 1996.
Did rojo really say this? I'm assuming he means "free". You can get in depth data from at least the 60s and 70s (probably much earlier than that) at Tilastapaja.
FWIW: The thread title is misleading. That 12:58.82 was done when Hocker was 3 weeks short of his 23rd birthday, or 22.95 years old.

Well, to be fair, Rupp actually ran 12:58. Even still, Kennedy ran this 27 years ago.
Dathan Ritzenhein's epic 12:56 16 years ago in Zurich was the most exciting 5k AR of them all. Ritz started out DFL, was not even visible until 2 laps to go, moving up to 3rd, then to 2nd with 300m to go!
No 5000m AR comes close to this one!

Oh sheet, I forgot to post the video. Ritz started out DFL. Wasn't even in the picture until 2 laps to go, but still at least 60m behind. Moved into 3nd, then to 2nd with 300m to go, and giving back 2nd with only 80m to go. This was the most exciting 5k AR ever!

My bad, rojo's almost correct. Tilastopaja only goes to 1997. It's Brinkster that goes all the way back to 1891.
