but not a selector yeah?
Note from Rojo on 5/30: We are going to lock this thread to new posts and direct everyone to the new thread as I think it's not fair to ask newcomers to this controversy to read through all 8 pages. The new thread has a good summary. Here it is:
but not a selector yeah?

But kind of maybe the tiniest bit sketchy, yeah? At any rate, kind of gives some context to what Lisa’s husband posted.
I’m pretty sure both Didyk and Bideau work for AA.
Does that mean none of their athletes should be considered for selection?
interest quote on Lisa’s insta story…
The totally predictable crap shoot the selection process historically is in Australia. Anyone still defending the vagaries of the current system? I can symphathise with all the marathon runners in contention. Paris is not far away and there's still all this going on? Nonsensical.
This long, drawn out and messy selection process is exactly why no one gives 2 effs about elite running in Australia. It's so hard to follow a sport when there's so much endless selection drama for teams. It's even crazier that 2 of the selected athlete's coaches work for the national body!
Selected the 3 fastest runners, simple.
If the team quoted is true this is a farce…..
‘Gen should get picked over Lisa as she’s registered a time 7s faster despite Lisa producing multiple great results over the selection period’
‘Oh but a faster time doesn’t count when we put Lisa against Jess since she won Comm games gold 2 years ago’ (Lisa got screwed out of selection for that championship as well)
They are rewarding people for choosing not to race (not to mention the conflicts of interest)….all three allegedly chosen have had only one good marathon in the selection window (and they are not even the best three times)…
This is what happens when selection is subjective.
Personally I think there’s argument to be made for five of the women and will be happy with whichever 3 they choose…but I’m not one the athletes.
side note: I wonder what has happened to cause the anger towards Jess? It’s not like she picks the team.

It is true and it is a farce.
Even more ridiculous, the selectors referenced Jess’s world champ results from 2013 and 2017 as being better than Lisa’s from last year.
Not sure why the animosity but all athletes

Curious how the selectors have decided to select a 47 year old female who ran 2:21 in 2022 but hasn't produced any significant results in 18 months.
I assume none of us are really clued in to what the hell is going on in the clusterF that is Aths Aust right now.....but if Sinead's run on Sunday is a prove fitness run, what would be a tick here? 68/69 PB shape? 71 had a decent run??
Because it’s the fastest an Australian has ever run. It’s 2 mins ahead of the next competitor on the same course. It’s also within the qualifying period.
Incorrect. Lisa is the 3rd fastest time. Gen and in particular Diver the record holder have run faster marathons within the qualifying period. Jessica has not so Lisa should be in based on 3rd fastest if that’s the rule they apply.
There are plenty of great anonymous opinions here, so here’s one more.
I think it must have been a tough choice for AA. To be fair, Lisa is less than two years younger than Sinead, so age isn't a relevant argument for choosing Lisa over Sinead. Additionally, Sinead is the current record holder and won the Australian championships in September. She wasn't under any obligation to compete again. Let's not forget she placed in the top 10 at the last Olympics.
Reading this thread again in retrospect after Lachlan’s X post… how many of the commentators getting personal in here are Lachlan himself?

I thought the tweet was harmless, if unnecessary and he did thank her for removing the photo and say that his family was heartbroken.
There’s only been one poster getting personal here and it seems to be targeted more at Adam Didyk.
A lot of chat here re. Sinead's age, Lisa v Jess. What about Gen? Only run two maras...both flat. Great time in Valencia on a perfect day, other girls <30sec behind.
For mine, she's probably going to be a great championship marathoner, but there's no evidence yet that she is. And the same can't be said for Lisa, Sinead, Jess who have ALL performed well at hot championships. Feels like there's an assumption Gen is a given...? She'd be my unlucky 4th any day of the week.
