So I agree with some of the previous comments overall I think it was a weak show. He still has the moves when it comes to dancing but his vocals sounded pretty weak and almost like he hasn't had a real concert in 30 years. As a guy who's been through a lot of concerts I know that live acts sometimes do not sound good at all and can be pretty disappointing for being supposedly professional musicians. He should have practiced his singing more than h is dancing. I only recognized one of the songs but this has nothing to do with being white or black I've listened to all kinds of music in my lifetime and I knew some of Usher songs I think I might have even had one of his CDs back in the day. Ludacris sounded good though at the end I think they would have had a better show with just him instead. The roller skates and all that other stuff I know they're trying to put on a spectacle for the halftime show but for me I care more about what the artist sounds like and his voice is singing to me it just was below par. I've never seen him live in concert so maybe that's just how we usually is but if I would have paid money to see him in concert and he sounded like that I would have been disappointed. I don't care how many Michael Jackson type dance moves he did up there.

You have to judge HT shows on a curve. Are you a country music fan? You’ll never like the hip hop, and vice versa.

I like rock music, but the venue has been typically poor for a rock spectacle. The run of Boomer rock acts was embarrassing and not well-suited. Certain acts could have handled it in their heyday (AC/DC, GnR, VH, Metallica), but the expiration date has passed. They probably will put up Foo Fighters in the next couple years, and there will be a surprise Nirvana number. It will be mediocre.

It’s a venue for song and dance acts, which usually means R&B, or some white pop version like Katy Perry or Justin Timberlake. Most essential is you have the hits, can be a good front person, and have a good production around you. Usher is weak by not having good hits (other than “Yeah”), so he was 2 for 3 there. I grade him a B-.

While Jay Z is involved, he should just get Beyonce to do it every year or two. Bring back Rihanna when she’s not 7 months pregnant. Of course, Taylor Swift would be the biggest get.

If I were in charge of the halftime show, I would hire Yuja Wang to play classical, virtuosic piano for 30 minutes. No choreography, no side acts, just a piano on a platform at the 50 yard line and "SILENCE PLEASE" running constantly on all the stadium screens. Shove some genuine musical talent down America's throat.
