Yes, at the Paris Diamond League race in July on a 400m track. Not on a 200m indoor track in December against a group of collegiate runners. Valby's performance today was superior to Koll's, only 0.35 seconds slower.
I am neither really a fan of Ms. Valby or Ms. Tuohy, but I don't think this is true. Ms. Koll didn't have the newer shoes or a track that can be modified to make whatever distance you're running even faster by banking the turns. Just physics in my observation, not trying to besmirch Ms. Valby. Excellent performance. But in terms of effort, Ms. Koll probably was a bit better. Plus, Valby had company for most of the race and could see runners getting lapped as motivation, etc.
It's well documented the BU track is faster than most outdoor tracks. The only negative for the distance races is the temperature - I assume it's 65-68 degrees in the facility? A bit warm. And regarding December - most of the competitors are riding their peak after XC. Other than possibly lacking a bit on the speed tuning, they should be near their 5k best.
She ran all 36's with no problem, then kicked it in from 1k out, pranced around the infield and gave an interview without breathing heavily. She has no idea what her upside is (this wasn't it), neither does her coach, nor do we. Just pray she stays healthy.
Valby likely trains 7 days week. On days that she cross trains she is probably doing 90min. to 2 hours each session, with possible doubles. Because these sessions are not running, she is able to have a longer and harder effort than she would if doing a maintenance run. (She even stated that she goes extremely hard when cross training and that on the days she runs, those are hard workouts.) Is this sustainable? She was also very high mileage in high school, but has always downplayed her mileage and effortI wouldn't be surprised if she breaks down within the next couple years.
Two college runners just broke the men's indoor 5000m record, with the winner running 5 seconds faster than the previous time. And we also had the second fastest women's 3000m in history.
Valby's time needs an asterick. (Kidding). But BU was going like Runninglane today.
In regard to comments above about Parker downplaying her fitness or talent and being deceitful, I don't think it's that at all. She's clearly a bit clueless in regard to running and training (at the least) and she has low confidence (as she has expressed herself). That's fine, whatever, but I hope she continues to attach herself to a very skilled coach and "team", because that will be essential to her success.
As a Tuohy AND Valby fan, I find it disappointing how many people think the success of one negates the success of the other. Last year, Tuohy was on fire during indoors while Valby was injured. This year, Valby is on a winning streak and Tuohy is (likely) taking a break. It's part of what makes this sport exciting. Personally, I'll celebrate exciting talent, broken records, and solid races however they come along.
You’re forgetting that anything positive said about Valby is a personal attack on astro and his family.

If you listen to the Citius Mag interview, she says she cross trains about 70 minutes unless it's to replace a long run and in that case she goes 90 minutes. She does double with swimming 40 minutes on 2 of the days. She also takes a day off.
I think she's shown that this works for her and it's weird how angry(?) some people are about it.

The problem is last year when Valby was running well as a potential threat to win NCAAs, all the Tuohy fanboys came on here and accused Valby of being a doper. The shear volume of people accusing her for no reason was disgusting.
Even now, people like astro try to diminish what Valby just accomplished. There isn't any Tuohy hate here, people are just teasing astro (whose favorite athlete is tuohy) to teach him a lesson before he accuses anyone else of doping without evidence.

Maybe instead of spending all of your time here bloviating about your little princess, grab some books and learn how to spell "asterisk."
