I wish coop would've stayed with th training for one more year. Especially with hicks coming in and a couple other new blood for btc. I think in the long run it would have been better for cooper. He ran well thos season but just wasn't able to put everything together and thats ok.
I could see him leaving btc & going back to old coach. He didn’t have a great showing under jerry & he is probably impatient going into an Olympic year & wants to go back to something that works. His gf would probably like to get on a pro team but to my knowledge she isn’t even signed to a brand. On ig They seem like a committed couple that’s trying to find a pro environment that works for both of them, not just what works for Cooper teare. I’m not sure where cooper is from but I know the gf is from va (I know this bc when she was in hs she dated drew Hunter lol. She’s a conventionally attractive woman who seems to have a serious case of speed goggles). So them being in va to visit family & possibly look into laying down roots there isn’t a strange concept. I guess he’ll make a statement soon
I doubt it has anything to do with Rachel’s pro career. Cooper has the potential to make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Rachel is a borderline pro runner who would be lucky to ever get any kind of deal. And if she ever does it won’t be for much money. It’s good it seems to work for both of them but if Cooper thought he was going to have great results with bowerman, there’s no way he’s leaving because of Rachel’s pro prospects. Or lack there of.
Leaving Jerry after one year is premature. He takes two years to get it done. What happened? Cole Hocker ran 3:30/3:48.
What a trope. Bowerman is washed, look at the comp. Time to move on
Huh? Washed? Fisher just set the AR in the 3k and came 4th in the DL final. Moh Ahmed ran 26:33 last year. Mcgorty just made the WC team in 2 events. What more do you want?
Lol, after USAs there was a thread asking which BTC athlete would leave next. I mentioned Teare and everyone said that was crazy.
People don’t understand the mentality of these blue chip runners, they will drop their training group and coach in a heartbeat if things aren’t clicking. Teare was dominant at Oregon, and was supposed to be the future. Instead, he’s watched Hocker and Nuguse experience the success he was supposed to have.
He goes to BTC, lays a stinker of a year (by his standards) heading into WCs, and has decided to try something drastically different heading into an Olympic year. It’s really just that simple.

I agree, but “stinker of a year” is a weird statement considering I think he PR’d in everything
Nah compare what Hocker did at 19 years old vs Teare at 19. Hell, Teare this year at 23-24 years old isn’t even better than 19 years old Hocker. Teare’s best year was when he won USA’s in the 1500m.
cooper has been top dog everywhere he's been. Went to bowerman and suddenly was getting dropped in workouts and wasn't running the times he believed he could. Only natural he couldn't handle the mental side, especially when Hocker has managed to keep improving despite injuries. Said more concisely, Cooper's ego will forever prevent him from training with better runners.

layer on that it sounds like his gf couldn't get on the bowerman roster.
Does anyone else think some of coopers post race interview comments about Jerry were a little disrespectful? Yes, it is very easy to not be a fan of Jerry but I think that as his athlete he shouldnt make it seem like he doesnt trust or believe in his coach… idk I like cooper and think he’s a great personality but he seems slightly disrespectful just because jerrys ways don’t work for him.
