El G's coach claimed el g ran 1:42.7. And Ngeny ran el g down.
Jakob runs a significantly better 2 mile than el g, yet can't get close yet at 1500m. Shows that el g has serious 800m speed and therefore so does Ngeny.
No, he isn't. That is a massive difference from his pr of 1:46-mid. He ran 51 for the 400 in his teens. He won't have gotten much faster - probably about 1.5secs.
i think people are what they have run, with SMALL allowances for performances in other races, huge negative splits, etc. i am being tongue in cheek about the 1:44.5 based on all the hype for ngeny and his imaginery 1:42 flat range.
A guy who goes through 800m in 1:44.6 with 200m to run is a sub 1:43 runner. Again...abandon the discussion because you have no idea what you're talking about despite what you believe.

there is no no evidence of that for a strength based runner. 23 times he ran an 800 as a pro. at least.

This seems to be a debate alot of people have. I just spoke to El G and his coach seperately and asked them the same questions. Hicham said 49-50 seconds for 400m and 1:45 for 800m. I then asked his coach the same questions-he said he has run 48 for 400m and 1:44 high for 800m in training.
There's no f****** way Hicham only ran 1:45 or 1:44 high. Tim Cheruiyot ran 1:43 and Hicham murders him at 1500. Jakob probably runs 1:45 (he ran 1:49 for reps) and Hicham is obviously better at 800m

The evidence is the 2:11 1k. You're too dense to acknowledge it.

What you think they could run has nothing to do with what they actually achieved.
So there were tests for EPO in the 90's? Enlighten us.
*sigh*
So much for being an expert...
From a WA publication on EPO:
"1993-1994 The IAAF introduces blood sampling during eight World Cup Meetings (see Birkeland/Donike et al., ch. 3)."
Ngeny ran his best times in 1999-2000.
From USADA.
"A test for EPO was first presented at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia that was based on a complementary analysis using blood and urine matrix. With this test, a blood screening took place first, followed by a urine test to confirm possible use of EPO."(quote)

That was a new, improved test. Athletes started being tested for EPO in 1993.
Since apparently no one knows any actual pro results of substance, here's one...
Just last year, 2022, Wightman destroyed Arop in a 1000m, running the 9th all time best time of 2:13.98 with Arop a distant 2nd in 2:14.35. Only guy that should be considered now is Wightman.

It was ineffective. From the New York Times:
"When a drug test for the banned blood booster EPO was developed by French scientists in 2000, it was hailed as a revolution. For the first time, a potent performance-enhancing drug, which had been abused with impunity in sports like cycling and distance running for nearly a decade, could be detected."(quote)
Athletes in the 90's were able to use the drug with impunity.
