It's Swahili for 'white person' though recently, there have been some white people in Kenya who've started taking offence (never white Kenyans) and misguidedly trying to equate it to the 'N' word. Typically latte-sipping North American liberal arts college alumni types with a misplaced sense of victimhood. It's nothing but an innocuous descriptive word. Kenyans will describe someone by their ethnicity -Kalenjin, Kikuyu, Luhya, Mhindi (Indian), Mzungu (white) - as naturally as they'd use 'tall', 'thin', 'fat', 'dark' 'nice'.
Hard for Americans to appreciate, but owning any kind of gun in Kenya (let alone an unlicensed one) is a very big deal: it means you're 1. military or law enforcement 2. high profile VIP like a political figure 3. farmer-rancher type often in remote regions who has to protect their land and livestock from cattle-rustlers and other farm invaders 4. a criminal
Zane not being a good guy is widely known, and considering he got into some murky dealings with his Ethiopian ex-wife that led to him fearing for his life only serves to reinforce my suspicions. Why is he even in the country? Deport this fool.
He can only pray they deport him. That would be his best possible outcome.
This is all the more tragic because Zane had reinvented himself as a personal trainer in ITEN and Eldoret, ostensibly for middle class or wealthy Kenyans who wouldn't care a monkey about Zane's EPO ban.
The rape allegation is disturbing and seems uncharacteristic for someone of Zane's status - a professional athlete. Hopefully the wheels of justice will uncover the truth behind these allegations.
It beggars belief that Zane would attempt something like that cognizant of the dire penalties involved, and serving time in a Kenyan penetetianry would be horrific for a Mzungu. Zane is not Mensa IQ calibre but unlikely he would act that stupidly.

Give us the typical profile, in your opinion of the typical rapist? Ask campus police on college & university campuses. Alleged male rapists are among all male demographics.

“The condemned have no hope of ever being with a woman, so they have made up their minds on sexuality. They operate just like husbands and wives where the hubby is expected to provide for the wife. It is considered a win-win situation in which the ‘wife’ must offer sexual favours,” said our source.
One of the inmates said that he gave up on being straight after back-to-back transfers to two facilities failed to save him from the rapists.
“The sad truth is that once you have crossed over, there is no coming back. With time, you get used to it and start enjoying the protection and favours.

This is just plain wrong. The ones wanting to frame stuff like that as equal to racism is right wingers that are upset they can't act like a victim now and then.
Probably right. Interesting, though, I don't see the same people taking offence at 'gringo' which is essentially the same.
Even if convicted and sentenced, it is predicted 99.9% that Z.Robertson would get out on appeal.
Zane has erred with this latest episode, but a 10-20 year sentence will not see the day after appeal. Of course the right lawyer and fees will facilitate and speed up the judicial process.
One feels that Zane has psychological issues after his 8 year ban.
Absolutely not condoning Zane's meltdown at the party but the photos of his arrest where Zane appears completely unperturbed and relaxed speak volumes.
His best bet is to offer a payout, like his house, to the victim, and hope he has enough money to pay off the court.
It’s bad for him that he’s already in custody. He f@caked up big time. He better hope he has enough money to grease the system in his favor but there are now more and more people involved now he’s in custody.
His only way out of this is if his extended family sell up everything they own and come to Kenya with a million dollars US or so, and pay the victim to drop the charges and pay enough officials to get the weapons charge dropped then get out of Kenya fast. If not, he’s facing the new reality of doing jail time, where he will be a huge target for abuse.
Like I am said, he f@cked up big time. He is in some serious trouble. His drug ban is nothing compared to this.

The second photo (scroll down) with Zane in handcuffs, clutching possessions including a blanket, extra clothes and water, in preparation for his initial 5 days of custody, is a chilling reminder that when living in a foreign country, one should be very aware of the rules and regulations and cultural mores. All the more so in developing countries where the justice system is likely not top notch.

Anyone curious as to why the French are so loathed in Africa to the point of literally being kicked out of the continent in blunt rejection of their paternalistic neocolonial policies, take a look at Ghost1's obliviously chauvinistic posts for a clue.

Is he in “jail” with other inmates or at least not alone in his cell when he is in custody? If so, he is probably someone’s wife already and he may or may not have been manually castrated by now. Also, I can’t see someone accused of something which is punished by life sentence being released on bail.

Yes, when in America one should be very aware that if you snitch on people with money, they will Epstein you while you are imprisoned with no way to escape and conveniently all the guards look the other way and turn the cameras off.
This guy just can't keep out of trouble. Given that he was born in a privileged, modern first world country full of many white people, it seems extra stupid to mess up in a country like Kenya, where he is a guest.
Anecdotally, a significant proportion of the club level male distance runners I know locally make dumb decisions and kess up their lives in a variety of ways which you would find hard to imagine, often involving criminality or verging on criminality. I also know one who killed his wife.
