If Gonzales is to believed, then the course is 125 meters over 3 miles. In the end it should not matter. Reading all the comments all they have done is further cemented that so many come to this race due to the ability to have what is arguably a false time. It is a super fast course. Flat as can be, on surfaces that have little slowing effect on a runner.
Any course that changes from year to year are not courses that true times should be based upon. Use the classics that are always the same, the only way to get true year to year performance comparisons. If they can lock in a course that never changes, is exactly the same each year then you can have a comparison.
I think it's the same course organizers that did Cool Breeze. The also messed up the course in pretty much the exact same distance. There must be something faulty in the way they measure their courses. I think the guy said on letsrun here that he wanted to check his wheeler to make sure it's correct

For this particular meet it’s not comparison from Woodbridge to Woodbridge that people look at but rather this race to your 3M PR.
Lol it’s also a race that people pay money to go to and where they charge 20 dollars to park yet they can’t measure a course correctly. There’s more people that attend this meet than Nationals for college. Also it being 0.078 doesn’t also account for all the turns they added. I have hosted meets I make sure to measure the course several times it’s ok to be off a few feet not .078 . Everyone complaining has a right to be annoyed.
You’re such a baby…are you a parent? You really teach your kid to behave like this, like a cry baby Karen? It’s cross country, if you’re so worried about outcomes and teach it to your athletes to care about these things, they’re bound to not execute when it matters. I’ve raced courses that measured much shorter and longer than 150 meters than what was supposed to be “8k” or “10k”. Didn’t matter, it was only about beating peoples for Kolas points.
If anything, the course being longer compensates for the super shoes boost. That’s a whole different discussion for a different thread.
Name calling that’s really funny. Calling me a Karen you need to take a good look in the mirror. As the only Karen here is you. I have not complained at all I just said people have the right to complain if they want as everyone is paying a lot of money to have a measured course. You act like you’re real tough but I bet you never won anything in your life. Maybe you go back to your troll cave.
The average distance for 23 independent Strava entries was 3.09 miles. Now we see this first wheeled distance pretty close to that. Impressed that GPS was telling the right story. Good second opinion on course distances.
Course is being shortened tonight. To 3.022 for some reason. Why not get it down to 3.00 even?
WOODBRIDGE COURSE UPDATE: The meet directors have just alerted me the course has just been shortened by 100 yards for today’s racing action. The distance is now 3.022 miles. In case you are wondering, that’s about 6 to 7 seconds slower than for 3.0 miles if you run 15 minutes.
Race has been shortened for day/night two by 100 yards. Complete B.S. Not right to those who ran last night. They will have times that appear much slower then those running tonight. Make the adjustment via the course distance in the timing. Change it to a 5K for the results not the course itself.
How does this even happen? Why do athletes need to tell the course officials the distance is off.
Meet directors care amount attendance and thus income from entries then they do about accurate timing and course distance. They simply do not wish teams and athletes to be upset that they do not have a super fast time on a far from cross country course, to assure high numbers of entries in the future.

You’re complaining about something so small and non problematic…that’s exactly what a Karen does. I’m calling you out for being a cry baby about a course that’s 100 meters long at a high school race. It’d be a big deal if it were an mis-measured track where distance actually means something.
You’re right- I rarely won anything in college because I’d be beat by guys who now compete at world championships…but I have an All-American medal:) I’ll send you a pic, drop a email (could be a burner one). I’ll send a pic with this thread in the background to prove its authenticity. This will clear up your last point in your post. C’mon, drop a email buddy.
these guys are idiots nobody wants to run your 3.022 mile course. way to kill the excitement and energy for what was originally one of the best meets in the country
Like I said I was not complaining just pointing out facts. If you’re calling this a small problem. I guess you like getting ripped off. A comparison of this problem would be like buying shoes that say 10 but they are really 11 most people would take them back. I seriously doubt you are All American . If you are props to you. I have no need to put my email on here as I don’t have a big enough ego to really care. Seems like I really got to you though. Sounds like you have some thin skin like a little cry baby😂😂
