We bought a plug in hybrid (Prius Prime) the last time we were in the market (2020) because charging infrastructure for EVs in our area (Central NY) wasn't there and because of limited availability and selection of EVs at the time.
Next car will probably be an EV, but I'd like to give it a few years for the next wave of vehicles. Expect more selection, more competitive market, and lower prices by then.
Was reading one of the posts upthread about how EV batteries don't last long and cost of ownership concerns. Recalled similar rhetoric around the hybrids once upon a time and went looking for a representative thread. Happened upon the link below made at the time we were in the market for a Prius in 2007.
Flash forward, the 2007 Prius is sitting in our driveway with the original battery. It had body damage from a deer strike repaired a couple years ago, a plastic part of the liftgate that broke after about 15 years, and most recently (weirdly enough) the gas tank replaced due to rust damage.
